Even Mrs. Cleo knows he will be there. Has anyones ever had a there cop not show up? First hand accounts only, none of my cousins friend BS.....Anyone? The officer shows up %99.999999 of the time. If he doesnt, buy a lottery ticket once you get out of court because that will truely be your luck day.

Yup. Indiana, cops only show up if they're DESPERATE for OT hours. My experience, 10% show-up rate. Day I was there, one cop out of 20 showed up. Guy lost his plea, but the other 19 of us won. Good luck, this is not nice!

You're more lucky you didn't kill anyone or severely damage property.

85 in a 25 isn't just unsafe, it's 100% stupid and reckless. I hope you get caught and tossed in jail next time you do it.

I guess I'm just the unlucky one. I lived in northern VA and spent a lot of time in the Manassas Court house. State troopers were always there.

6 points for a non-racing speeding ticket??? Damn dude. I got a 23 mph over in North Carolina last year and it was only 2 points.

Forget about the lawyers, just pay the stupid fine and take the course. The ticket is cheap compared to your insurance, which may or may not go up if you take the class.

BTW--cops LOVE court, they get lots of extra money (or at least out of road patrol). My roommate is a cop and goes all the time.

I got a caught doing 90 in a 70 last week.
He only wrote me up for 80, said he was being "nice".

I was thinking if you want to be nice, let me go with a warning

First ticket in 7 years, I hope my insurance doesnt go up to much.

It also helps if you know who your judge is going to be. My freinds and I got stopped for 24 over in Georgia on our way down to Florida for some Spring Break action........Well, the ticket ended up being over $800 after all was said and done. In addition, she called about 8 lawyers and the second they found out where she go the ticket and what judge she was gonna have they all told her the same thing :"his judge is NEVER going to let you off for 22 over no matter what. Just mail it in.".

Well, it took about a year for the ticket to catch up with her and she had her license suspended. The a-hole cop knew we were going down to Florida for some fun and he was considering hauling her off to jail!!!! Oh man I'd have had a har time not beating his *** and going to prison myself if he had jailed her..........bastard was like "Id like to impound your car and haul you off to jail for this"........and he meant it. I could just see his internal laughter at the thought of ruining our fun. Bastard.

Anyway, why not plead a prair for judgement. I did that on two seperate 15 overs. Technically, its gotta be at least a year. Well I pleaded twice within 6 months and the judge never bothered to look at my full reckord. They are so damn budy. I just said, "your honor, Id like a prayer for judgement"........and that was it........hehehehehehe........

Obviously i Was going 87 apparently in a 65 and the cop came from nowhere.

Im only 17 so i think he gave me the ticket to get the point across from me but it is a lot of points, 6, on my license and my insurance is gonna skyrocket.

Wjat do you guys think I should do? People are telling me to plead not guilty and ask the cop to help me out and lower the offense or what not.

When you do that are you in front of a judge?

This sucks.....
I'm sorry I didn't read all of the replies, but this is what you should do:

- First and foremost - check for ANY errors on the ticket. Plate, color, make, type, address, date, ANYTHING. A single error is grounds for dismissal.
- Send "not guilty" - DO NOT PAY THE TICKET! Never.
- Each time you get a court date, delay it, re-schedule it! Make excuses, any excuses. By the time it reaches court (2-3 re-schedules), the cop won't remember you. He might even re-schedule himself a time or two.
- Once you go, WEAR A SUIT!!! It makes a difference!
- Hopefully you didn't say anything stupid to the cop - they write **** down these days. If you did, you might have trouble.
- Forget about all the radar hardware checks and print-outs. It might have worked in the past, it doesn't now. Their hardware is up to spec.
- If the cop doesn't show up, ask for a dismissal. It's not "automatic."
- Always speak respectfully "yes your honor, yes officer." It helps.
- If the cop shows up, you'll have a "mini-trial," ask the judge to lower it from 6 to 4 points (being reasonable). You can then take the safe driving course and lower it to 0. The course can be taken only once a year and removes only 4 points.

My father works for the NYPD.

Hope this helps.

I got stopped in a 30 doing 55 (empty area, going down-hill). I didn't show the cop my PBA card nor did I tell him my old man is one of his. I got a ticket. But I had it lowered to 4 pts and then took the course.

Thanks. The TSX and FX45 are leased. (Wife drives the TSX, it's auto.) The Z I own. Planning on upgrades (yeah, I know, everyone says that). But I just bought a house that needs a new kitchen. So I'll wait until spring to work on the Z. Should be fun.

Just carefull on I95.....LOL. Also, Are we to have a post # contest? LOL 371 to 369......

Is wreckless driving the same thing as unsafe speed?

You did the speed now take your punishment. I don't feel sorry for you. Pay the ticket, if you can take a class to get rid of the points do it. I know you can do it in Florida, but I don't know about all states. Next time keep it under 10 over.
