I don't understand. Is the Enth. 350Z for MT more expensive? If you wanted a MT, you will soon get bored of the AT tranny, just a warning. The AT of the 350Z and G35 is actually not that bad if you insist on getting an AT. It's pretty damn fast shifting for a AT. Not the same as a real MT, but not a slush box either. It's no SMG, but the manual gear mode actually works to help the car move fast, as opposed to most that hinder the performance.

There's nothing wrong with 350Z AT or G35c AT. Lots of guys on here have them, and have modded them like crazy into fast and sweet looking cars.

Yes the AT in manual mode will allow you to downshift also.

But if you drive like you type, Im not sure I want you on the streets driving a fast 350z

Let me TRY to translate, if I can. Tell me if I am close:

There are two option as I see it:

-You are younger, and your parents will be buying you a car. They refuse to buy you a MT for whatever their reasons are, so you are stuck with an AT. When you are older, and able to buy your own vehicle, you can buy yourself the manual, but for now, they rule.

-You have a job that provides you with a car, and your employer will not purchase a MT car for you.

Are either of these close to right?

PS - I like my 5AT. I drive in WAY too much traffic on a routine basis to make the manual a comfortable option for me.

Here's my advice.

I was in your shoes when I get an Automatic Civic EX instead of a Civic SI.

Wait as long as you have to, until they let you buy a manual, if you really are into fixing up your car for performance.

If you are like me then you'll regret the automatic for years, while you wonder what driving a manual is like.

You want to consider getting a cheap automatic car used for a couple of grand, so you can have the option to get manual a year or two down they line when they finally change their mind about the manual.
