Great. Thanks for the info Jay. I can't imagine a 350Z with police lights! That's too cool.

FYI, spoke to my dealer today. He told me last month that my car and one other were listed as July delivery and the rest of his allocation was August and September. Today he said the two July cars changed to August. Not a surprise to me or any of you I'm sure. I would be pleased with a late August delivery.

Cool

OK..so this is how my life goes...the show gave us a two week hiatus (vacation)..first time since '93 that I'll have two weeks in a rowoff...of course it's the last two weeks in August...dealer says car will be in the first week in September...do I plan a trip for the hiatus or hang out in case the car arrives early?
Starting to feel like I'm working on soaps again...too much drama

I do not know if this means your car is coming first, haha, I have no info on when the cars set sail for North America. He told me that that have 30 or so Z's to build for the police forces over there and those might be first. *snip*

If production HAS started then I vote to lobby the government to have June 15th known as "Z Day".

BTW: Does NISMO offer a police package? It would certainly reduce my chances of getting a ticket

Did they say whether it was the front or rear end? Sorry, bad humor day...

When I ordered my car I was told that Nissan would be keeping us fully informed about the production of our car. I was told I would get an email confirmation, email when the car started production, email at different points in the production line, email when it got shipped, etc. Kinda like following an order on Amazon.com. I though this was really cool. To date, all I have recieved is on confirmation in the mail and am all left to guess about the production status and delivey of our cars.

Thanks for keeping us informed. This is a milestone since it means that they finished tweaking the car for the first run. 2 to 3 months and some of us will be on the road!

Correction, I just read SeedyROM's counter reply in the other thread. Need to put a lid on my optimism until the debate ends.

unfortunately the package consists of a speed limiter set a 55 m.p.h., and a GM like skip shift from 1st to 4th.

boy........that sounds very very similar to what my dealer told me. As of yesterday, he still doesn't know if cars are being built, or if i he has a VIN number for my car. Hell, he even told me that my car should be the first one to arrive during the beginning week of August.

This gift better be pretty good, because the frustration factor is increasing.

Cool

I was told the same regarding e-mail updates....never happened!

I like my dealership but it's been my experience that we know so much more than they do...

Default Police Car = Fairlady, not 350Z

Z's have been used as police cars for years in Japan.
Good way to test,no?
Remember that this production line is shared, not dedicated to 350Z only.
Cars enter production stream to test and evaluate assembly specific process.
The problem with this type of information is that it gets everyones hopes up that the car will be here next week.
So many steps that most are not aware of before retail delivery.

I need a shave!

I didn't realize that. That would mean that they won't be able to make as many or as fast.
