warranty
what are you allowed to do before you void your warranty? i.e: exhaust, intake, etc. i have many performance upgrades i want to do to this car but i dont want to void the warranty right off
Depends on your dealer... Here in Miami we have a dealer that replaces basically anything under warranty no matter what you have... I heard stories that people have TT and get warranty stuff done at the dealer... I'm replacing my Crawford headers there and get to keep my warranty, I get it for a good price too, b/c I know the mechanic... Anyways, most dealers are easy on mods and other are not...
ok, i didnt know what the deal was with the warranty. so basically need to call my dealer and ask what i can get by with. could you tell any difference when you put your ground kit on?
Your overall coverage is not really affected by mods, only the specific item or related items. If you change exhaust, it won't affect your warranty coverage on the alternator for example.
They can only deny you warranty coverage if a failure can be directly attributed to a modification. For example, if you add a SC or TT and you destroy a piston, it's not going to be covered.
As others have already pointed out, some dealers are more "mod friendly" than others. Some will overlook what others may give you a rough time about. If you call your dealer, chances are he's not going to come out and tell you that anything goes. He's going to give you the official Nissan line. Now if you spend some time over there and get friendly with them....who knows what you'll get away with.
As for the grounding kit, you won't notice any performance difference. It DOES look cool though. I put one one the first week I have the car. Dealer didn't blink an eye over it.

The Magnusson-Moss act says that aftermarket parts may be used on a car and not void warranty on remaining OEM parts or systems as long as the replacement part isn't the cause of the malfunction. In other words, if you replace your exhaust and your windows fall out, it's not an issue. If you replace your intake with one that uses an oiled filter and your MAF sensor goes bad, you're probably screwed. Of course every place plays these rules differently (as noted by previous posters), but for the most part, you're ok to mod as long as you understand the arguments that could come into play down the road as a result of those mods.
