I doubt that we would have seen something of that nature by now.

The Nissan advertisement at ZCON said January 2009. So 10/08 production sounds about right.

It looks like a standard single disc clutch.

Will dual clutch transmission ever be offered in the new 370Z?

Well, since people has been saying the cost of GT-R dual clutch transmission is around $20k, so I don't think it's coming to 370z anytime soon. The car is only $30-35k, so Nissan can't afford to have a $20k dct in it, at least not with the current pricing....

As long as Nissan does not include the dct in the car for that reason, then I guess it is ok. Afterall, this is supposed to be the affordable sports car.

Any news on the suspension?!

+1 on if the rear strut tower is still a big chunky, space taking lump, or is it a smaller tubular design like the Z32? Or don't you remember?

Normally, you would be right, but they wouldn't use the GTR tranny in the 370Z... doesn't make nearly as much power. There are other, cheaper alternatives.

Audi uses their DSG in many (relatively) inexpensive cars, so it's possible.

But with the weight loss and HP bump of the 370Z, Nissan doesn't really need a DCT to sell the car. So it would make sense to hold off for a couple of years until they need to recreate interest again. It just doesn't make financial sense. The 7AT from the G37 is already designed for this platform... it's easy to integrate at this point, and just as quick as the 6MT and better fuel efficiency. So what is there to gain?

I could only see implimentation of a DCT if Nissan brings out a high-spec NISMO version.

it will have much more agressive ratios than the G35 7AT, the shifting might be tuned to be faster, the Z has a good possibility of having a launch control function like porsche (hopefully) and it better not void the warranty this time.

the gear ratios of this car are most likly going to allow vette like mpg numbers, maybe a little higher with a fuel saver tune and a intake and full exhaust system.

another thing is that porche's pdk transmission has an exTremly tall 7th gear. 100mph at 2500 rpms!!!!

nissan take the hint...please....

Thanks for the info. I just spoke to a friend of mine that is an engineer for Nissan in its Farmington Hills, Michigan site. He knew more than he could reveal to me, but I was able to get some info out of him.

He actually ordered the car for himself back in August, with an anticipated delivery date of December 08. Production allegedly started on October 3rd or 4th. The car can be ordered by the general public sometime around January 3rd or 4th. He said the latest product information guide ("PIG") shows the only engine as the VQ37VHR.

Sorry I couldn't get more out of him, but I can understand why he's remaining silent on more of the details.

Sure thing. Ya, Nissan had a full page advertisement in the Z Car Convention program earlier this month. Said January 2009. So ya, the car will be on sales floors in January.
I was able to hang out with a few Nissan big wigs during the week as well. And was told a few things about the car that I cannot repeat. I am lookng forward to the new Z!
