Nissan Motor (not the government) rescued its commercial truck division for about $1 billion US dollars. Its not the same thing, but just shows you mismanagement isnt isolated to the big 3. That was my point.

Some interesting solstice news. GM has released an upgrade kit with new sensors. Essentially the car goes up to 290 hp for about $750 MSRP. But the real info is that the sensors will make it easy to bolt up a bigger turbo and install a new ECM tune and you can get 400+ hp.
Even basic GXPs with a tune are getting around 270-280 rwhp. Low 13's happen fast.
As for some other info on the thread...
1. The solstice quality survey is a little misleading. It is a 3 year rolling average and the 2006 solstices had tons of problems. They are much better now. Still, stupid GM.
2. The solstice can bolt up very wide tires. 275's will fit under all four corners and no overhang with proper backspacing.
3. The solstice a major handler. It has won SCCA T2 championship the last two years. Fully independent coilover suspension with great weight balance and light weight (compared to the competition, including the 350/370z).
I love the 350/370z. It was first on my car list. Unfortunately nissan still sees to rape us in the cost of the Z here in Canada. Maybe someday that will change.... sigh....

The GXP Targa top will definitely be a fun car to drive around and I'm sure will be fast as hell on the track. As for handling, I think the 370z will be top dog. True, the Solstice is the next miata and a cooler one in my opinion. The exterior looks are good but the interior blows.
And the GXP will cost similar if not more than the base 370z. Its supposed to be just over $30K which in my opinion is crap for what you are getting. The Z wins hands down in ALL categories.

people like the OP make the Z's sound overrated.

Solatice vs. 370Z?
This use to be competition with the Turbo version and versus the 03-05 350Z but even the turbo version can't keep up with the HR Zs of 06-08. The 370Z will smoke the ponitac in everyway. Now I do like the looks of the two american roadster and the coupe but as mention way too much chrome plactic stripes inside the car in 3-5 years it will all crack off and look terribe no doubt. I hope that the engine fares better then the pontiac Ferro?sp whose engine was crap but the car looked pretty neat like a Fiat X19 almost. But thats nothing like a Z in overall quailty, especailly the 370Z.
Man that felt good to write. Where is the real competition Bimmers here we come and Evos and STi not only do we look better but will run past you now (as long as its not snowing).

I highly agree and I am no fanboy of either though i own one of the two in this thread I love all cars and they each have their pro and cons. Iam looking at a 370z at the moment.
