370z Competition
Thats what I was wondering. This guy thinks the STI and EVO are in a higher class? WTF?
Seriously Subaru and Mitsu kind of dropped the ball on these two cars. Sure they handle better than the previous version but in the power department they are no better. I can speak better about the STI since I'm also a suby owner and frequent the boards. The new STI is actually slower than the previous STI. Not to mention the 09 WRX is almost just as fast as the STI. Both the EVO X and 08 STI got minimal power gains. It seems as if both companies were okay to fall behind with the power as long as they made both cars handle better. The 370z will mop the floor with both cars stock vs. stock. I'm not even sure a stage II 08 STI will do much against the 370z.
Personally I think Japan car makers as a whole are really dialing back the power. As already mentioned the STI and EVO got minimal gains. The 370z's 332hp is also not anything spectacular and most people were expecting/hoping for more. Toyota doesn't even have anything sports oriented except for the IS-F. Honda, well Honda only really has the S2k which isn't anything comparable to the Z, STI, or EVO. All the while the domestics are bringing big numbers. Just not sure why Japan is holding back when they could easily make their cars with more hp. I digress

In my eyes they played the right cards; think this out. For example mitsu have made an ungodly evo suspension etc while keeping minimal power boost. That means the next gen will most likely keep the suspension upgrades to a minimal and get a max power boost.
Or i am completely wrong and we will be riding in these
the 370Z is competing with:
135i
Genesis V6 coupe
Mustang GT
Camaro SS
G8
Cayman S
Z4
Solstice
STI
EVO
RX8
R32
and im sure im leaving out a few.
and if the V8 with the G nose rumor is true.
it's either the VH45 or the VK50 thats going to be used.
with a starting price of $38,900 hopefully.
i just hope if it's the VK thats being used, they stuff it with all the VH goodies.
and since it's the Z were talking about here expect 400-450hp.
and a weight of 3350lbs-3400lbs

The 335i is a big boat of coupe.
I put one through good test, the car is nice if your looking for something that is good DD with long road trips in mind.
The 370z is a real 2 door sports car in which fully loaded is running MSRP $41K.
Because 08 350GT with NAV almost $40K
Thats what im thinking, A nicely loaded 335i comes in at 46K.
Not to mention they run 4.8 stock add juice box and
to the competition.
G37 over a 335I.. G37 handles like a boat and way slower cuz it soo damn hefty
. I cannot see that association whatsoever..
Obviously we want our future Z to be superior to others but comon people!!!!

Chevy Cobalt SS. It's a $23k car that out performed the STI, EVO X, and bmw 135 and a bunch of other cars in Car and Driver last issue. I believe it's 265 hp. Ugly as sin though.
I may be wrong but I can see BMW losing 335i sales to the 370z. If the 370z looks arent a turn off you are getting a faster car with pretty good interior for 10-20k less. In this economy I think the 370z will steal sales away from BMW 3 series coupes and maybe Porsche with the Cayman as well not just Mustang/Camaro/STi/Evo etc...If I had to choose Id pick the 370z not because of bias as I adore the 335i. But I aint well off enough so money talks and prestige walks...
I think the quoted 332hp for the 370z is under rated for insurance purposes. I know for sure the the vqhr is under rated feels alot stronger than the 306hp quote, especially now that I broke her cherry(10,000 miles).

Have you ever ridden in one of these with a tune?? They are sick.

Thats against a Z06 with intake and exhaust and the 335i has a tune and filter.
I wouldn't call it a sole DD.
