Yes i hear it will be out in June, but by that time,i hope to be driving something different and the handling aspect won't make a difference but you can bet it will have alot more than a 26 hp difference.

and to aswer the OP's question, I'm going to be waiting for the NISMO 370Z to be released, and see what it has to offer.

But is also suppose to be lighter with quicker suspension on line of a Nismo minus the hard ride, so it handles and RIDES better. Along with better smoother shifing from its improved 6spd manual and 7spd auto with paddle shifting just like in the Porsches, which is a BIG plus. I like the 370z. Because of these factors alone I will be trading for or buying a 370Z.

Just as the 07-08s were an improvement over the 05-03s with only 19hp more the 370Z with 26hp more is the near same improvement.

This minor improvement in horsepower matched the GTs V8 in the Mustang in 07-08s and the 370Z leaves it in the dust with 332hp. Motor trend timed the 370Z at 4.7 sec 0-60 and the 2010 Mustang at 5.2 which is better then the 03-05 Z's 0-60 time and a sec off or ties the 07-08 Zs, but the Stang still don't look as good to me. I do like the the retro look of the Stang but not compared to the Z.

I'm keeping my 350 and waiting for the next generation Z (the next Z to replace the 370 and anything that is spawned from it). I simply do not find anything in the 370 worth trading for. At best, it's a baby step improvement over the 350 and visually it's a Picasso (if you like cubist art). From an economic standpoint I think you would be wise to buy a 350 new if one is available as it will be a great bargain. If not, wait a couple months more for a 370...auto dealers are badly hurting and it will only get worse.

some kits might make the 370 look better than stock but that doesnt change the ugly rear panel

the new Z is really growing on me...especially the modified ones...I can't afford one right now so I'll wait a few years but if I needed a car right now and had the money, the Z would be near the top of my list for what I'm looking for and what I'd realistically be looking to spend

WAIT UNTIL JUNE, when the NISMO 370z comes out. I think your perspective on the 370z will change as mind did!!!!

I have mixed emotions about the 370z.
I actually love the retro look.

The computer predicts what you want to do (Down shift, Up shift, and so on) and auto adjust the rev. For a daily driver I think this is great. For Racing I think this is a great advantage. I think its a great technology that should be in all cars. But from a purist stand point I think that it's handicapping future drivers from learning the right way of driving. It's one more addon that are turning drivers into passengers.

Many say the 350z looks better, I think in person the 370z is much more aggressive looking...it's also a small car, and a small car filled with extra goodies non existent in the 350 model at that. I used to own a 2007 350z but sold it for a 2006 stage 1 Roush mustang. 370z definitely caught my eye though!

I like the orange Z in the pic. The nose looks sensible for the first time since the 370 has been released and the side skirts filling the space so close to the ground does a good job hiding the "fat" look the car has in profile when stock. But unfortunately nothing can be done about those damn lights.

Still, the car looks pretty good there. Too bad it would cost you about an extra $15K to get it that way.

The variable you are missing here is that the 287 HP engine on the 03-05's was rated under a different standard for measuring HP. With the revised SAE standards that Nissan was required to use starting in 2007, the old HP ratings were about 20 HP over-stated. They had to build a new engine so their HP ratings would not go down like they did with other manufacturers when they started using SAE ratings. Thus, the 80% new HR engine in the 07-08 was born. Why else suffer the expense of an all-new engine just for 6 HP? think about it...

Nissan's dirty little secret that the magazines never pointed out. But who pays the magazine's bills? The advertisers, including car manufacturers.

So on paper the 07 (HR engine) "only" got 6 HP more than the 06, but in reality, the 07-08's got 26 HP more than the 06 rev-up (300HP rated engine) and 39 HP more than the 03-05's (287 HP engines).

But peak numbers are not the whole story. The 06 rev-up engine makes peak power at 6k RPMs and then power falls off. The HR in the 07-08 makes peak power at around 7k RPMs and it levels out, not falling like the rev-up/DE.

The High-end of the HR engine (6500-7500 RPMs) is about 40 HP up on the 06 rev-up, so the difference from the 03-05 to the HR is HUGE (60 HP?) in the upper RPMs.

So the 26 HP increase for the 370 with a very similar power curve to the 07-08 350 is not nearly as big of an improvement than the 07-08 350s have over the 03-05's and even the 06's. However, the 03-05's were a bit lighter than the 06-08 cars.

The 370 is significantly faster not due to the aditional 26 HP, but also due to the lower rear end gears and the slight reduction in weight (80lbs) which is not yet substantiated.

This dyno is my 07 with Bassani exhaust and my wife's 06 with MREV2 Lower collector and 5/16ths spacer (Which gave her some huge torque boosts in the mid-range compared to stock). They are bothe slightly modded, but it gives you an overlay of the rev-up power curve and the HR power curve.

EDIT: And just so I am on-topic, I am considering selling my 07 350 to get a 370. Not because of the marginal improvement in acceleration and braking, but because of the HUGE improvement in handling and the syncro-rev match manual (LOVE the rev-match manual). It would make me feel much better about the move if the 370 had 350HP or more from the factory - or a factory V8 or TT Option (Which I'd gladly pay more money for). To me the looks are a draw - inside and out. Sure, the inside of the 370 has better materials, but I prefer the 350 dash/center console much better (Minus the 350's ugly instrument cluster). The 370 feels like a G37 from inside - it's really tall - meaning the top of the dash is much higher than the 350. And the 370 has that silly silver panel where the gas and temp gauges are.

I agree with what somebody else said. Stock for stock looks wise, I think the 350 looks better. Much better in fact. I like the 350 more inside and out. However with the right body kit, the 370 can look as good or maybe better than a modded 350. No matter how somebody mods the 370 interior, I will always like my '06 more. Everything just flows right. I wouldn't get rid of my 350 for lots of reasons. Some reasons in no particular order...

1. Mine will be paid off after this summer.

2. Has 10 grand in mods.

3. The economy is crap.

4. I've never been concerened with 1/4 mile and 0-60 times but haullin' around corners which mine does just fine.

5. I'm saving to get a new truck if I still have a job, at the end of this year.

6. I worked my a$$ off to get it.

7. I would never buy another Nissan vehicle.

8. The extra HP would be nice but see reason #4

9. It only has 27,000 miles and has only been driven less than 1,500 miles in the last 12 months. Work a lot, no time.

10. Paid almost 30 grand for it OTD, 10 grand in mods and about 5 grand in interest on the loan. That's about 45 grand total and I could probably only get 15 grand for the car, with or without all the mods.

Hmm first 3 were money reasons, maybe it is in some kind of order HA.

Didn't care for the looks of the 370 BUT that Zele kit, even in the orange with black wheel scheme looks wicked. Reminds me of a orange Porsche GT-2 or GT-3. Either of those 2 would be my dream car.

Here's a pic of the butt end of the Zele 370Z.. (I don't like the spoiler)

I agree with you hiz-n-herz, you're on point with everything you said regarding the performance differences between the various years and the new SAE testing standards. I have an 08 G35 sedan with the same engine in it that the 07-08 Z's have and while the new 370Z and G37 sedan are a bit faster it's a very negligible difference. The only area where I differ with you is to me the looks aren't a draw, the 370Z looks better, both the interior and the exterior. I have known I wanted a Z for about six months now but after hearing and then seeing the 370Z I knew that I wanted it instead of getting a 2008 350Z which can be had for a great bargain (still a hot car with great performance) now.

If I didn't have a 350Z and wanted a Z I would get the 370.

I wouldn't sell my 350Z to replace it with a 370Z.

I parked next to a 370Z w/ my 350 at the dealership today and hands down (for me) the 350Z is better looking.

Unrelated- Was going to sell my Z last summer, yanked the whole system out, and decided to keep it. Glad I did.

Just got my 07 Z less then a month ago and must say, I have fallen in luv. Considered the 370Z, but could not pass up the deal I got for the 350 with 2100 miles. I think the new Z is a good step up the evolution ladder, but that back bumper with its exhaust outlets has got to go. Man, how the hell they goof that up? Ruins the entire rear-end. I will drive my girl around for a year and then take a new one out, so I can really compare the improvements.

I'm still unsure about what to do. Pay off the 350 and then put money in to it or trade up.

I finally saw a 370z on the road and ..... I'm not totally impressed with it, but I will say if I didn't have my 350z, I would likely get it. It is definitely better looking IMO and they definitely got the offsets right on the new Z. I'm staying on the fence unless they start lowerin the price of the Z and have new colors which I expect later this year. And considering that my Z is almost paid off, I rather enjoy my excess than fret over paying monthly again
