dude with all those mods you probably aren't any faster than an HR..to get 370z power your going to need a lot more than that in your DE..
show a timeslip of your car..
Could you please explain how the 370Z is "a more proper design within the context of the Z lineage" versus the 350Z?
The 350Z to me was always more reminiscent of the 300ZX, with its longer, more parallel lines. In particularly the window line, as it is drawn dead straight much the same way the Z32 has very straightforward lines that define the shape of its body. As I said, I think the 350 is a beautiful car, I don't think there is anything wrong with it.
The 370 inherits more design ques from (obviously) the 240Z, with a truncated rear end and a more dynamic sweeping window line. The stubbier and wider proportions along with the silhouetted shape, I find, to be a more proper design within the context of the Z lineage.
I am not trying to convince anyone, the OP asked for impressions, someone made a generalization, I gave my opinion.

Didn't realize I was going to interrogated on my opinion, but sense you ask...

In simple terms the 370 is a hybrid between the 350 and the 240 (series).
It remains to be seen what Nissan will come out with next but I will say I'm looking forward to it. I think the 350 is a stand alone design and was very successful. Let's hope this continues and they don't drop the Z from their lineup like they've done in the past.

I wonder if there is going to be tension between the 350 owners versus 370? Like the DSM 1g and the 2g, and especially dsm 1 and 2, versus the 3g version.
Can't we all just get a long?

No worries, didn't mean to be defensive.
I certainly enjoy the open discussion about it, but it feels like there has been a lot of resentment from some people.
As I mentioned, I very much like both cars, and I find the different design directions very interesting. New design may not be for everyone, but there is still much to be appreciated.

I owned a 350 for 4.5 years. I've owned a 370 for 4 weeks tomorrow.
i think the 370Z is better looking than the 350Z. Its subjective, sure, so that may not be the same for everyone. IMO the 370Z looks more aggressive. I never did like the 350Z headlights, and really, I did not like the front end of the 350 because it did not look very agressive, it actually looks kind of happy where the 370Z looks angry. As I said its subjective and to each his own. I loved the 350 as a car and was planning to keep it. until the 370 came out.
I also think the profile is better, the upswept window is the main reason but the lines are better IMO. the rear is not even close, 370 by a mile. the 370 looks more muscular and appears "ready to pounce" just sitting there.
For me the 370Z is a better car in most respects - the only thing I haven't liked better is the TPMS system, I liked the one in the 350 with the individual readouts. I drive 60 miles a day and the interior is a huge improvement if you spend alot of time in it like I do. Its got more power (45 more HP than my 350) and it pulls harder at higher RPMs.
The suspension is much better IMO. Not only is it stiffer in turns its softer over bumps. Improvements in both areas.
You will never hear me bad mouth a 350Z as I think they are awesome. i only had minor complaints, and in the looks dept the only thing I didn't like was the headlights. judging by all the overlays, eyelids, black out, etc options to dr up the headlights and make them more aggressive it appears to be a common opinion. But my 350 was a GREAT car and I was very happy with it.
I have had the 370Z four weeks tomorrow and I have gotten an insane amount of enthusiastic positive comments. People seem to love the 370Z. For example, the day I bought my 350 I had a friend, a girl, say she didn't really like them. She loves the 370. But I mean, who cares, I am the only one who has to like my car.
But again, i like both cars and think they both look good IMO. I would rate them 1a and 1b in the looks dept. unless we are talking about lamborghinis, etc.

Having owned an '04 350 Roadster Touring for last 4 years I finally decided that the new 370Z was a big improvement after only driving 2 weeks. As others have posted, design is better in my opinion - more aggresive look.
Also, the ride is much better-smoother on bumps and more stable in the corners at high speed. The new VQ engine pulls harder than the previous and the power band is very linear as you mve toward the high end.
Interior is a big improvemnt over the plastic like interior of he '04 350.
I was able to get Touring+Sport with NAV/Music box and really like the overall package. Nav is great easy to uese compared to thers ive seen. The Music box allows for huge storage of songs and you can burn your CD's if you dont have an ipod yet.
I think Nissan hit a home run with this new Z and I should know since I have owned 4 Z's previously- 240,280,300,350.
In regard to the posts that refer to the blind spots as terrible, I disagree. The 300ZX was even worse for blind spots. At least the 370Z gives you bigger mirrors to work with and it only took me a week to get comfortable with the mirrors and trust them.
This is just my two cents but I do have some background with owning various Z's for past 30 years.
"Enjoy the Journey"
put it this way it would take some amount of money to get a 350 to run and handle like a 370Z does out of the box...it is the best dollar for dollar bang for the buck car that is excellent on so many areas... it WILL be a highly modded car in a short time it simply is a better platform than the 350 ever was.
How do you mean "downgrading"? You just stated that the 370Z is equal to the 350ZNismo on the track. Wouldn't that be a horizontal move, not a verticle?
I originally traded my 2007 350z for a 2006 roush mustang..a real eye catcher, everybody always stares at me in the mustang....of course it doesn't have as much top end performance, and it doesnt handle anything like the z....However it has alot of get up and go from low mph....better than the 2007z....that changed with the 370z, which, you guessed it, i'm trading my roush mustang in for
The 370z is definitely sleeker looking, I like it more than the 350z...it's smaller, wider, and looks reminiscent of the old 240...
Another good upgrade are the paint colors... the paint seems to have much more quality than previous z's...
When you get inside (by keyless entry) it's obvious that they spent alot more time on the interior....the gauges, the steering wheel, and gas pedals all look a lot more refined, along with the rest of the inside...
The clutch is alot easier to press than both my z and my roush....very, very little clutch effort; but it's definitely tricky compared to previous cars...The breaks are very sensitive, perhaps too sensitive...
All around, the 370 is faster. It hooks better, and accelerates faster at both high rpms and low rpms.
In a nutshell, this car almost forces you to fall for it, from its performance to its looks...

I test drove the 370 and liked it. It was, however, only a marginal improvement over my 2007 hr. I was with a salesman who had a 1/2 mile strip behind dealership with a right turn that i could play on. I drove as hard as she could handle around the corners multiple times. In the end, i really appreciated my vehicle more and was happy as I drove away. Yes 370>350, but not by enough to trade in, not for me. and i still love my car.
370z made 290whp on dyno.
I think if you have an HR then the 370z isn't such a great buy. But those who own the DE motor it is quite the upgrade and even with all the bolt-ons you might not reach the numbers the 370z puts down stock. The looks have definately grown on me though I still prefer the 350z cleaner look. I guess I will probably stick with my 03' and slowly bring over parts from the 370z if is possible (the performance brake package makes me happy in the pants).
Pros IMHO:
Better Handling
Better Powerband
Better Interior
Better Brakes
Cons:
350z still looks better
So I guess if you care more about looks then get a 370z, but then again I would probably get the Hyudai Genesis Coupe R-Spec if I was in the market for a new car!
