Genesis seems pretty lackluster next to the Z. 1.01g skidpad This car should see 12's if the mag drivers manage 13.3

Looks like the engineering behind the 370z just kicked the **** out of the Genesis Coupe.

Well the 370Z wasn't out long enough for Hyundai to rip-off.

I'm not surprised the 370Z is a better car than the Gen, after driving both.

I am surprised that they chose they Mustang though. Props to Ford for upping their game.

Interesting but I don't know why Motor Trend would pick the Mustang as the winner in a comparison in which they didn't drive all three cars back to back. I think that if Ford would have allowed to let the Mustang be driven back to back against it's competitors Motor Trend would have come up with a the same result Inside Line did in their Mustang/370 comparo; victory for the Nissan...

ford needs to sell mustangs. makes sense. these comparos continually throw the mustang into a different class. it isn't a sports car or was ever supposed to be one. it started out as a pony car, then turned into a muscle car and stayed that way. I didn't see a single place the mustang did better, and it's ugly.. but man did they give it a lot of praise. first I have ever seen a mustang get praise like that for it's driving dynamics. I will have to see other test results.

and the pictures of the genesis make it look ugly as hell. I knew it would turn out ugly.

Edmunds was right when they said the Mustang is like Rush Limbaugh. There will always be a market for it no matter how bad it sucks.

Im sure the Mustang is fun to cruise around in, but man, they need to work on the wheelgap. Rear stance looks awful.

Even though it looks ugly in the engine bay, that 3.8 Lambda motor is supposed to be hot. I have a feeling Hyundai has tuned it very conservatively for low-end torque and streetability, but big power gains are to be had with basic tuning.

Yeah weird. They got to clear that up in the next issue hopefully.

I find it funny that the only "real" sportscar in the group loses because it doesnt have back seats and the engine is coarse at high rpms lol. Sounds like MT found a way to make Ford happy. Wonder how much it cost Ford lol. The Z was easily the best performer by a good margin in most cases, least displacement but most hp, lightest weight, best acceleration-skidpad-lateral Gs etc and still lost. Reminds me of how they found a way to make the Viper ACR lose a "Best car for the Track" test purely about performance eventhough it massacred every car it was up against. Oh well the numbers speak for themselves. BTW I like the Mustang. Best sounding American V8 imho but it got beat. The results should have reflected that.

You forgot most expensive. The cheapest car in the group is the GC which is a bout $4k cheaper than the Z in base config and about $7k cheaper fully loaded.

Yeah, I believe the 13.3@107.1 was in the yellow tester, and the times they used on page 6 were from the blue tester, from a previous test, where it ran a 13.3@105.7.

Hopefully they will clear it up, but the difference in trap speeds can be had from the same car on the same day, within minutes on seperate runs, as the car adjusts to input, fuel and conditions during hard acceleration. i see this during every trip to the drag strip. My first run is usually the slowest, and by the third and 4th passes, the traps have picked up as much as 2-3 mph.

Nice performance, for the 370! Remember the Z wears far better rubber from the factory than either the genesis or stang which helps it a bunch in the performance #'s.

BTW: Lets see what happens with the 2011 Mustang with the new 5.0 engine.

Very true. That could be the exact same car on the exact same day, given the wide amount of discretion the ECU has over the engine's operation from one run to the next.
