Probably not..

Moving the shifter to the left from D to manual mode puts the car in a sporting mind-set, with the paddles calling forth sharp, lightning-quick shifts that helped this car set the quickest acceleration times we’ve yet recorded from the new Z: 0 to 60 in 4.6 seconds and the quarter-mile in 13.1 at 108 mph, quicker by 0.2 and 0.3 second and 1 mph than our quickest manual car.

I saw one test where they dyno'ed back to back and had about a 5 hp difference but can't find it now.

No, I really don't think so.

I DD an '07 Nissan Sentra with a CVT, and that thing is REALLY not designed for any type of performance, but rather gas mileage. It's shift performance is very week, I would not ever consider buying a Z with a CVT.

That is incorrect. I GREAT driver will make even a "good" driver look bad when racing equal cars from even a roll.

The only thing it rules out is your lack of launching skills you still have to shift.

My fawking DE back in the day ran 13.1 @ 107mph (262whp) with bolt-ons, now auto 370's are doing it! Good showing....

The 370's 7AT is probably one of the best versions of a traditional automatic I've seen. Full shift achieved in under 500 milliseconds, and I believe it's the same basic unit as in the FX45 (390 hp) so it can handle some power.

Seriously. There is no point to racing 'from a roll'.

So if its a STOCK 370Z, why would you say that he has "no lsd". The Sports Package (that you say he has) comes with the a VLSD. I have one and that's how mine came.

Well that's BS. Roll racing is a more accurate measure of a car's power and speed, as opposed to drag racing, which is more dependent on traction and the driver's ability to modulate throttle.

P.S. Amazing numbers. Nissan/JATCO ATs are absolutely fantastic.

^ The OP stated that it didn't have the sport package; therefore no VLSD.

The car is probably a tiny bit faster w/o the sports pack. It just depends on how well it hooks up on launch. The sports package adds a small amount of weight and really helps in tracking, not at the strip.

Imo, .200s is a very solid step into 12s. It means that he should be able to consistently run 12s, as opposed to just dip into them with something like a 12.98, and then on the next run a 13.01, rinse and repeat.
