Would you accept a GT-R as a gift?
Even if does HOPE pay for tuition, you have to pay for residence if you plan on living on campus ($3000 for apartment, $2300 for suite), you'll probably also be eating at the dining hall (woodruff is better $1000), and if you buy books at the bookstore that's about $500. so it's about $4500 each semester :O even with hope scholarship.
I would take the cash and I cheaper car 30-40k range.1) 80k for a car is stuppid IMO I don't care what it is.2) The warrenty on the car sux there is a thread on here about the guys tranny blew up and he has to pay 20k to fix it cause he turned the VDC off..
If you have the kind of dad that drops 90k on a car as a graduation present, he will also probably make the downpayment on your house, pay for wedding, etc.
If those things are not in the cards, you should def take the majority in money and buy something more mainstream to drive.

+1
i wouldn't take it as a gift mainly because i have no desire to ever own a gtr. if your dad was willing to buy you something of equal value or just the money, then i'd consider. but it's kinda like a slap in the face like saying "dad, it was a good idea, but what about...." also, i could never afford the maintenance for a gtr.
honestly invest it in something. cars are the worst investment, they are a liability, and will cost you money. however if you truly want this (as im sure you do) accept his offering, but perhaps make it a bit easier on him by helping with payments or throwing some money down. either way, graduating is a very important part of your life, and im sure your dad wants to motivate you in every way possible, and you should be thrilled that he wants nothing but the best for you. either way your lucky, and seem to have your head on right. best of luck
What is with Asians and buying college students nice cars anyways?
I came from a lower-middle class family, and worked my *** off in school and to find a job so I could buy myself a used 350Z. I think that if it was given to me, I would not appreciate it nearly as much. I know several "rich" kids (if you will) whose parents buy them nice cars, and they don't seem to have the same respect for them that those of us to have to work hard to get the things we want. If you really want a GT-R, find a good job and buy it on your own when you get out of school. Take the 80k and buy a 370Z and save the rest for a down payment on a house, unless of course your parents are buying you your first house, too.
