I rather spend 170k getting gtr spec-v.
I don't think the V Spec would do much better, if I'm not mistaken its just a better track tool with very mild engine tuning and upgraded chassis pieces.

give me $400,000 and a LEXUS would diffenately not be the manufacture that'd be in my mind! the average everyday person who doesn't know anything about cars would probably think that if you said "I drive a lexus LFA" you probably spent Lexus is250 money not "FERRARI/LAMBO" money.

LFA looks like a riced out Supra. In fact it's the culmination of Toyota's inability to give the project direction. Originally a Supra replacement, it was well over budget and was then planned to be a Lexus SC replacement.... but costs kept going up... so, now it's a 400k Super car that Toyota will lose money on!!

Pre-Production LFA

Or for 100k you can get a ZR1 that is darting to the finish line in just 11.3 seconds. Not to mention, out of the 3, it's the only one that actually has a manual transmission.

They're out of their mind trying to fetch 400K for that thing. Just a cause to raise the prices on the rest of their cars. Interior looks cheap compared to cars of it's class... Sounds BAD A$$ revving though.

Yeah the price point bashes it against the wall fighting with the Italians... would you buy a Lamborghini, Ferrari, or Lexus at $400k?

I think only the rich Japanese die hards and techno-crazy folks will choose it over the Italian makes.

The exclusiveity argument can be made for the LFA too. Why do people have the AMEX Centurion card? It's no secret that the Amex Biz Plat has almost the same benefits. Why pay the crazy initiation fee and the yearly fees?

People want things others don't have. Anyone can throw money at a dealer and get a GTR, Z06, R8, Lambo, Ferrari. Those are dime a dozen, everyone knows about them. Try walking up to a dealer and getting an LFA.

Why would anyone spend $1,000,000 to buy a Bugatti? Same argument.

I believe BOTH the LFA and Bugatti were built as a loss leader. In other words, they didn't make money and probably lost money to produce each vehicle. It's done to build brand prestige.

I'm not endorsing the LFA but just making an argument from the business side. With that said, I'd personally buy an Aston DB9 and call it a day

Who cares what others think? You buy a car for yourself not the public.

+1. It revs so fast an analog tach just wouldn't do.

I agree with everything except the idea the Bugatti loses money. Isn't it the only production car they sell? I'm sure it's so expensive to keeo them from losing momey. Lexus has many cars to make money with. This is a statement car....period.

Every site this debate rages on.
Only thing that really matters is having the money to spend on your toys. /if you have it you don't talk about it.
I know that lots of self made rich people became rich because they are good at making wise decisions with money. But the people in the 400K stratosphere have pockets deep as the ocean. It does,t matter the cost of the toy when the money is there.
The GTR is hot. I would definitely get one. But if I had LFA money, one would be sitting right beside the GTR in my garage.
Couple years from now when tuners have developed methods to sqeeze out more power (it is a v10), no one will talk junk about the LFA's price....not when it's pushing 800 hp.

I'm pretty sure Bugatti does indeed lose money on every Veyron they sell. They cost a LOT to build.
