AUGGG Got a new top and causing problems
I recently got into an accident.. i backed into closing garage door.. these are made out of steel.. the ones that goes up and down in an angle.. mostly seen in APT here in CA.
Anyhow.. i got them replaced through Insurance 6200.00 parts and labor.. damn i am gald i didnt have to cough up with that.
My questions is.. if anyone had their top replaced throught a dealer or anyone else.. any issues with the top not sealing all the way ??
the guy told me that its brand NEW so it needs time to strertch????
for about 2 weeks.. and then it will seal up its self..
I was like i dont think so.. so i left the car there and told them to fix it right.. cause i aint taking the car back as it is..
Man i am ssoooooo frustrated at this. i didnt have my car for month now..
damn miss her~

Sorry to hear about your problem. I had mine replaced just about 3 months ago after finding a slash and mine fits fine. But, when I first got it back I noticed air whistling on the passanger side and when I got out to check it I noticed I could lift the top up and see inside the car on the passenger side?? I brought it back to the dealership the next day and when I got it back the following day they said that there are two cables that hold down the top one on each side and the one on the passenger side had snapped after the top was installed. Other than that one issue I have had no other problems. I wouldn't except what they gave you. Good luck with it!
Just had mine replaced. I had the same problem and the dealer told me the same thing. I didn't believe them at first but as time went by, it actually stretched to the original form. My advice is not to pull it back a few days and just leave it at the cover position. Also, it looks like you live in Southern Cal so I'm not sure what the temperature is like over there right now.....70ish? It's like 50 to 65 degree in Houston right now and warmer weather would have helped the top stretch faster. Just give it time. Also, you should get your car back from the dealer unless you're almost out of warranty and want to make sure everything is fixed before the meter hit 36,000. I'm sure they're just keeping it in the parking lot just letting it stretch out.
i understand if its littlebit of gap.. maybe like hairline.. but this is like 1/4 inch GAP all around.. and its not just replacement issue.. i think i bent something when i hit the garage door.. and they didnt seem to care to fix it..
Mine was 1/4 inched all the way around also. For me, it was very visible from the inside. I can actually see the light coming through with no problem. Also, I had a hard time locking the cover, but all of this only occurred the first few days. I actually bought mine back to the dealer and left it over night. I'm sure they double check everything but I'm not really convince they made any adjustments because I still had problems the next few days. But as I left the car in position with the cover closed for the next few days it actually gotten better and it's sealed all the way. Actually, right when I got my car back it was really nice outside so I kept on opening and closing the top....this really didn't help the situation and the roof didn't get to stretch back properly. Of course my situation is not as drastic as yours with the top being crushed by a steel garage door. You might want to take matters into your own hands and go back to the dealer and make them open the top half way to inspect some of the brackets. I hope things work out for you soon. I feel you man....after my roof was replaced I was a nervous reck and wasn't quite feel comfortable with my roof being installed right.
Regardless of what the material is on the top they replaced, the weather stripping should make good contact with the body all around. Every time I have replaced one, it was tight as a drum and would loosen a little, but not so much as to make it flap in the wind. There is only so much that a top is supposed to stretch.
I'd make them fix the issue. You should be able to pour water on the top and not get any water inside the seals, as that is what the top is there for.
