- What is the difference between Stillen V1 and V2 spoilers?
- Do all three available spoiler options (spoilerdepot, central 20, and stillen) attach with 3M tape?
It seems that using 3M tape instead of screws will not allow a tight fit, and will probably leave a slight gap. Also, in the long-term, after a number of washes water will seep-in inder the spoiler causing the adhesive to eventually separate.
My preference would be to use screws (or both screws and 3M tape) for the most secure attachment since almost any kind of adhesive will eventually dry out and cause separation.
The specs and picture for Spoilerdepot spoiler actually show screw/bolt holes as well as the distance between the bolts, but in the "number of bolts" spec they list 3M Adhesive Tape (see pic below).
- Has anybody installed any of these spoilers using screws, and not 3M or any other kind of adhesive?
Thanks

Use urethane glue, its the same stuff they use on crovettes, you would need a pry bar to seperate it once it dries.
Not sure what the V1 and V2 is about, but there is a Type 1 and Type 2 Stillen Spoiler, the Type 2 only fits on the coupe... They make the Type 1 for both the coupe and roadster.

So, if only Type 1 fits the roadster, is the post by tomines incorrect since it indicates that he has a Stillen Type 2, and is it in fact a Type 1 spoiler?

Type 1 is the first picture and Type 2 is the second picture..
Here is the link to buy the Type 1 for the Roadster (convertiable)

I had the GT wing by APR put on just prior to my x-country rally. Was not sure about it at first, but it has grown on me.. It is pretty aggressive, but not as tall as some GT wings, so flows better with the car. Used primarily for down force in high speed runs.
These were taken on the drive out to Vegas last month. Not the best but give you an idea.

My type 1 (big one) is installed with 3m tape and it feels pretty sturdy 2 months running. This is the method Stillen suggests..... so hopefully it won't fall off in the next few years hehe.

nice spoiler, i think that's the one i'm going to get for my zr.......btw what size tires and rims are you rolling with? thanx.......chill
I had an interesting conversation with a parts & service rep. of a large Nissan/Infinity dealer in the Toronto area to day that does lots of Stillen (and other) installs. When asked about adding the V1 rear spoiler for my Roadster, he said they had done a few of them and were having some major problems. In particular, one car he said actually had the trunk skin "lift" (his words, not mine) and that based on their experience he wouldn't sell me the V1 for a convertible. He also mentioned the quality of the V1 for the coupe was noticably superior to the version for the Roadster, although I don't know in what regard.
I find it interesting to get that sort of feedback from a dealer of both Nissan cars and Stillen products. I can't imagine with the amount of bodykit work this dealer does that it's battle between themselves & Stillen in general, but rather an honest account about a particular product.
Comments?
