I contacted NISSAN1 11 days ago to express my concern over my local dealer installing a Second Generation soft top on my 04 Roadster. This replacement top is IDENTICAL to the original soft top that failed in the seam that runs horizontal across the entire width of the car.

I maintain that NISSAN should have replaced the original top with the Third Generation top. As I understand this third top is designed differently from the first two tops.

Anyway, after waiting all last week for NISSAN1 to call me back, I started calling them on Monday of this week for some answers. They finally called back today, only to say that the Dealer installed the correct top for my model of car and that if I want the upgraded top, I will have to pay for it myself!!!!!!!!

The Dumb Bimbo from NISSAN is obviousley just a "ClerK" that called and tried to give me the brushoff.

Anyone with some suggestions on how to take this complaint to the next level, PLEASE let me know! I would appreciate your input.
If any Admin. people are looking at this, PLEASE Guys, we need a Sticky on this!!!! This problem will continue every year for ALL Roadster owners!!!

I had the same issue when I replaced my top for the second time. The dealer told me that they would not get reimbursed to install a third gen top given my cars VIN number (the system won't let him charge it).

Maybe the gen 3 top won't work with the 04 and 05's.

 

What is 3rd generation. Is that whats on the 06's?

 

My understanding is a mixed bag! I have seen posts where 04's & 05's recieved the third generation top. But NISSAN1 claims that it is for the 06's.

I am still trying to locate a picture of one to see the difference. I thought someone had posted in months ago but I can't find it now. It is supose to be a different material and the rear seam is placed abuve the rear crossbar, I think.

I don't know why it would not work on 04 & 05 model's????????
