jmmcnea - that sucks man. I hope you get justice. After having a bad expereience with an extended warranty, I opted not to get it for my ZR.

The dealer tries to sell this as an 'extension' of the factory warranty....but when it comes time to exercise it, they break out the fine print.

Just remember guys....once your top is replaced...there is only a one year warranty on your new top.

Default Soft Top Problem

Nissan contacted me yesterday and said I'm out of luck. The canvas top is not covered by the extended warranty. Now I need to assess my next move

The answer is YES! It's as bad as the tire feathering issue.
There are plenty of threads here to look at.

Mine effed up at the dealership on delivery of the car…. Of course they’d never heard of that happening before…. And “don’t worry about it…. it probably won’t happen again.”

I got it installed locally in San antonio for $395....they did an awesome job..

Canvas replacement tops for the 350Z are the way to go. It makes the car look much more expensive!!!

this is not so much a problem but a general question:
my softtop is starting to look kind of dull and washed out

is there a way or a product i could buy to make my softtop look new again or very black.

Thanks guys

If you got the original 350Z top which is not canvas but a vinyal\canvas hybrid...there is no way to make it black again. It is faded and you will have to get a new top. Get a canvas top. You can find them at topsonline.com for $649...with only $20 shipping.

I will take a picture and show you what it looks like.

I use this stuff that I bought from a local detail shop, only sold by the gallon. Excellent stuff!

It's made by Finale Products in Perrysburg, Ohio 1-419-874-2662

Great for leather or vinyl, leaves leather soft, restores, protects & is non-staining.

just looked at the seams of my softtop today while filling up.

the corners are starting to separate a little. nothing as major as the OP, but it's starting on me.

it's a 2005 with 14k.

well after doing so, i have till March 14.
and even then, the general manager has to look at it and approve it that it's something that's covered under warranty.

they better not give me any flak.....

Man that sucks, I don't see why the dealer is being such a ***** about it. If its under warranty it shouldn't matter. I just hope I don't have any problems when mine gets here.

Just make sure each time you go to the dealer that you get documented proof, date, mileage & your new top request receipt from the dealer. Each visit, do not accept any verbal remarks or answers with-out a computer receipt. They should of taken a pic of your top, either one or two and a pic of your odometer reading. Yes it does have to be approved but stay on top of it and be professional about it.
