Default Different Top Operation Switch

I was wondering if anyone has replaced the switch to operate the vert top. I want to put a switch in with three positions, open, close, nothing.

Just something I've been thinking about. Trying to gather my stuff together while operating the top is a nuisance, so I'd like to be able to just set it to close and not have to hold the button down.

The orginal switch is a momentary contact switch (push and hold). If you simply replaced it with a three way toggle of some sort you would also have to include circutry to remove power from the motors when the top had reached full travel. Otherwise the top motors won't last too long.

What within the current switch cuts the power to the motors now? I'm kinda getting into something I'm really not too sure about.. Hmm, maybe I can comission KPTech to do it..

When you let go of the switch it springs back to the center position thus removing power from the circut.

There is also a micro switch in the brake system that inhibits top movement unless the brake pedal is pressed. You need to find and bypass that as well. Becareful, the car has been known to throw trouble codes if too many safety items are inhibited.

Ok, so it's the action of releasing the button and it springing back into the middle position which is killing the motor.

Hmm, I'll go check this later today, but I do not remember hearing the motors running after the top is finished opening/closing, and I am still pushing the button. I will double check this in a bit. Essentially, I am hoping there is a sensor that notices that the operation is complete and kills power.
