About to purchase a roadster but i have a quick question
I'm looking at purchasing a 04 ZR with 33k - asking price is 18k from a dealer. I haven't actually seen the vehicle in person yet but I did notice a tear on the soft top. It's located on the bottom left corner of the rear window. The dealer did say over the phone that they will fix it. I'm about to head out and see the vehicle today. Do you think it's worth it? Is it possible to even repair the rip or do you think I should push them to replace the entire soft top?

Looks like a clean car.. Dont pay till the top is fixed and you verify it has been fixed, as soon as they get your money the ball is their corner and you will need to chance them down to have it repaired. Whatever you want done have them do it prior to payment being made. And make sure whatever repair they do on the top comes with warranty.
Keep in mind it's out of the 3/36 warranty unless it was actually purchased in 05', which is doubtful. Hard to say if that is a good price or not until you see it in person. If the rip in the top requires fixing, I agree with CaliBoy that you need to have it fixed before you sign anything.
Ask if they can offer a warranty for a small additional charge. (Sometimes it's like $700) Read the details closely to make sure there's no deductable and that the top and motors are covered.
Then get the top replaced. Keep an eye on the motor performance as well. The warranty could pay off.

The dealer said they'd "fix" the hole in the roof. I'd like to hear their definition of "fix". Replacing the top will cost them a LOT. Patching it will cost them a little. Their definition of "fixing" it could be covering the hole with duct tape.
Find out if they are replacing the top or patching only.

I would bet they will do a quick patch with some epoxy type glue. Basically, will hold it together for 1 or maybe 2 top down operations before it separates again.
A new top will run you upwards of $1500 (including installation).
Everything else seems like a great deal!
