Default $50000.00 for the Roadster--WHAT THE ****?

I don't want to offend anyone so here goes

Jones Bel Air Nissan sold a chrome roadster today for 50000.00
---no JOKE! I don't want to say how I know incase the new owner or dealer's employees read these boards so know one gets in trouble, but damn! just want to add to the ridiculas RAPE that some dealers try to do. Remember, they are not your friends --as soon as you walk in they want to RAPE you On the other side, I found a small dealership who now my wife takes her car to and I will be placing an order next year for the 2005 roadster. I will be going to RT. 40 Nissan in Edgewood. Very Nice people!

How the hell do you know what the guy paid for the car? I think you're mistaken, no one is that stupid.

like I said, inside info. Besides, when My S2000 first arrived at the Honda dealership--they priced mine and another one for 45000.00 k . Mine was white, the other black. Mine stayed on the lot for 4 months till I bought for MSRP. So I know there are people out there that don't want to wait and be the first to have it. So when my friend told me this, it wasn't hard to believe. I would have laughed or said " does this include an Altima----- "
But 50000.00 for a Z------they will be under MSRP next year. Now you can find at least two Z's at a dealer around here.

Default True on s2000

Dealers in AL had 7998.00 ADM on s2000 when they first came out.

So far Nissan's down here seem to be at MSRP or 500 over at most.

Academy Nissan in Colorado Springs, Co is charging $10,000 over MSRP for roadsters. $2000 over MSRP for 03's. Can you believe it? This car is a Lemans sunset Enthusiast with NO leather or bose, and the list on the car is $45,000. Un flippin believeable. Oh and by the way, if anyway from Academy Nissan is reading this, tell the OWNER he is a Piece of trash who cares nothing but ripping customers off. BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See what I mean! This is utter B.S. I say we should report these dealers --but I doubt Nissan would do anything, maybe customer servive would though for anyone buying now. Iam waiting till next year to buy one.

It's one of the basic ideals of a truly free market..... supply and demand. If something is rare (low supply) and demand is high (oooh, cool car, be the first kid on the block to have one) then the price goes up.

I don't see why some people think this is a rip off. If you had a rare painting would you sell it for the cost of the canvas and paint? Or would you try to get top dollar?

Besides, this stuff always passes quickly. All those people who paid huge mark ups on their new Miata, S2000, PT Cruiser, or whatever hot car of the year quickly look like idiots when 9 months later everybody else is getting theirs for MSRP.

I for one would not pay over MSRP for a car (I have a roadster on order for MSRP right now) and I would probably not deal with a dealership that tried to mark up my rodster, but I still think that they technically their right to do so. It is also my right not to buy from them.

My uncle gave me some good advice once when I was buying a house, but it applies to any purchase where there is a price being negotiated. He said "Remember, there are only 2 rules. . . He doesn't have to sell it and you don't have to buy it. Everything else is negotiable."

I went to the dealer in my area of Florida as soon as they advertised they had a 350Z last year. I had sticker shock because the car was the base Z with no factory options, but a bunch of stuff listed that didn’t make sense like rust proofing jacking the price up to $36,000.00. I stop several times because he had a lot full so you could see all of the colors and again they were jacked up to almost $40,000.00 for a Track model. I know dealer will take their opportunity to rip you when a car is new and hot so it doesn’t surprise me some dealer will get whatever they can as long as people are willing to pay to have the first one in the area. I had to wait and did some shopping before I bought my 350Z.
