If it will look almost the same as the regular top i'd rather go for a replacement of the stock one, or make my own. (not saying i could make it, just saying I'd rather make my own, with own specs and dimensions for the money)
Why not email this thread link to them?
I emailed them yesterday and got a response today as you wanted I included the link heres the email.

We appreciate your interest in our upcoming ZR Hardtop. There are no picyures at this time because the prototype is not completed. As stated it will look similar to the Corvette C6 Hardtop. Photos will be forwarded when available but they are several months away. It stilll looks like it will be available in Spring '10 when production begins.

Interesting but I would definitely need pricing and pics when available.

Am I understanding this right?......So this is a removable hard top & not a retractable hard top?

If it isn't retractable...I'm not interested at all!

this is a removable hard top. i'd have one in a heartbeat.

according to smoothlines, this is what it should look like (they said it was similar to the c6 corvette, double-hump style):

if it's still in the planning/designing stages, i doubt there will be pics unless they post some kind of cad drawing.
Same thoughts on a Carbon Fiber model! I would be very interested in one! I usually don't put the top up very often and I take the Z out for day trips. I would actually consider taking the 130# top assembly out during the summer and occasionally putting a CF hardtop on when needed.

Default Wow

I would definitely be interested in this top, especially for winter use since my z is my daily driver.

Interested in the update as well! The bad thing is that if your out on your several day trip with the top off, what about unexpected rain? I take it that the OEM top would have to be removed and the tonneau cover too?

i don't believe the OEM top/cover needs to be removed... certainly not the cover. you could remove the soft top and motors to save weight, but the disadvantage would be what you described.

If you could leave the top and cover installed and have the hardtop I would be all over this.

You mean just have the soft top down in its cubby hole and the tonneau cover over it, with the aftermarket hard top mounted? This would work nicely but only problem I can see is getting the latch in the center to hold the hard top down... how would you trick it into doing this as the car thinks the top is down.

i got this from the solstice page on their site:

Attachment is very simple, does not require any modification to your Solstice and fits all years. Simply lower the convertible top in the normal position and attach the hardtop using the center mounted latch at the windshield and then locking the OEM stainless steel pins into the existing convertible sockets at the rear. Very easy and requires only minutes. No tools are required
the latch in the center at the windshield should just lock right in place, much like what we have to do manually after the top has come back up. should be fairly easy to do.

i'm stoked - this is probably going to be my favorite mod! i'm just curious as to how the rear of it will be designed. hopefully they can make it a bit more exciting than the zr roofline.

The Solstice/Sky are a hand operated soft top. The rear latching mechanism on our cars is electronically controlled and I doubt can only be activated when finishing the top close sequence with the button.

So is the Corvette, at least for the year that picture shows... I think.

If the pictures in post #24 are any indication, it will utilize some sort of manual attachment at the corners instead of a middle attachment. I don't think the OEM center latch mechanism can be "tricked" into pulling down on the hardtop while the soft top is stowed, like gregom said. If there is a way, it would take some wiring mods and advanced stuff that the typical car owner wanting to buy this top would not be willing to do or is not capable of doing to get it to work right. Plus, it would just add more to the cost and installation. Nobody wants to pay more and take more time to install it.

Well I guess all we can do is wait and hope that it will be able to attach somehow while leaving the Tonneau cover on and the softtop usable for those trips that would be great.

I'm definitely game, I emailed them with my interest about three months ago and got that same PDF back, but nothing since then. I has me debating on whether it'd be worth it to buy a rag top to get me through till the Spring... I want it now!
