Default 350z - Product cycle

I just came back from the dealer and I'm getting a Z Roadster in a few mths. Right now, I drive a 01 Audi TT Convertible and that car is nothing but problems. Anyway, the salesman said the 350z will be discontinued and that nissan is doing just a 3 yr product cycle... the reason for this is to maintain value. Is this true?

even if that's what they have planned I doubt it happens......if the cars sell, and they continue to make money, they'll never stop producing them.....they don't care if the cars retain their value, they can only sell a new car once.......don't buy any car for resale value, buy it because you enjoy it!!!

Yea, I know... just thinking. I'm a HUGE car lover, I don't want to get the car and they discontinue it... hope not. Where in Columbus are you? I'm down the street from Easton. I went to Ricart, small world

As an S2000 owner, we've heard the same BS from dealers since day one...we're now in the 5th year of production. Manufacturers only recoup their cost on molds after a year or two of production...do you really think they would stop shortly after they just broke even? Dealers are there to make money for themselves...don't you think they would tell you whatever they want to make the sale?

It comes down to this...either the dealer knows better and is unscrupulous by lieing to your face, or he doesn't know any better and you probably wouldn't want to buy a vehicle from him in the first place.

Guys...check the Nissan sales figures...they've sold nearly 40,000 units this first year of production. This car has captured nearly 25% of the sports car market and is outselling the corvette here in the states! This car is doing for Nissan's image exactly what they wanted it to do. That talk about short life cycle of the Z is some dealer's bull probably trying to scare people into buying a car that they don't have to dicker over the price on. As long as Ghoshn (not right spelling, I know) is at the helm, there will be a Z car, I guarantee it. I wouldn't worry about those rumors, at all. If anything, they have more planned for the mid-life crisis of th Z. What I'm hearing rumored among some Nissan folks is more power via supercharging or turbo charging...most likely the latter....
