Default How to remove adhesive from weatherstrip

Hey all,

Still rebuilding my 08 Roadster, and I had to remove weatherstripping on inside of my 350z, around windshield pillars and top side of roof. Anybody know a good way of removing the adhesive that's on it? I've tried goof off, wax & grease remover, hasn't worked. Would acetone be too strong??

acetone make work. Also try mineral spirits. Also METHYL ETHYL KETONE (MEK).

3M Adhesive Remover, pricey@~$15+ a can on Amazon, but paint safe. I use it to get race rubber marks off and understand detailers use it for clear bra adhesive (also a 3M staple).

Correct. Only minor problem with acetone and MEK is the high evaporation rate. You must work fast.

wd40 works wonders for sticker adhesives, just let it soak and wipe off. repeat till it is gone, wash the area off with gojo or some diluted dishwasher soap afterwards.
