Getting rid of the roadster. Accepted my fate. Things changed
I have had my 350 roadster since Nov. '04. My wife approached me 2 months ago about getting a car with more than 2 seats. I was amenable to making a vehicle change. I did some research and we had some discussions about the new car. In the end we settled on a new BMW M3 convertible.
It turns out the trade value on an '04 350 roadster is not very generous, which means we now have an M3 waiting at a port of exit in Germany and we are keeping the 350.

The way I read his story is that the M3 is now sitting at a port and they won't be taking delivery, but will be keeping the 350 instead. All apparently due to the low trade offered for the ZR. That means he can't afford the M3.
Of course, none of it makes sense based on the title of his thread. Not sure how getting rid of the roadster and keeping the 350 can both be true.

Yeah, maybe I could have been a little more clear with the explanation. We ordered the M3 a month ago. The car has been built. It is waiting at the port of exit in Germany for shipment to the States. I should take delivery in about a month.
The trade value on the Z was low, so we decided to keep it; meaning I will be keeping the roadster and getting an M3.

I also have twin daughters who will get their driving permits in a year. In a year I would be spending more then $14K to get a car for them to use. Now they can learn in the ZR.

We have winter in NJ as does most of the country. When it gets cold I put the roof up and when it gets very cold I turn on the heater.
I have had convertibles most of my adult life. There is no difficulty owning convertibles in areas that experience typical winter weather.
If you are considering one and have some specific questions I will be happy to try and answer them.
