Removing wax and paint? off of top
Okay so ive been looking into the threads about cleaning the top and so far the only recommended products are ragg top and 303 cleaner. But theres not very much info on what they actually clean.
When i bought my Z the top had a white stain on the top (nearly 1 inch by 3 inches) in size it looks kind of like its dry wax but im pretty sure its paint, i assume it is paint because the car also had over spray on the glass (couldnt see it till i drive directly into the sun). So i got all the over spray off the glass and clayed the rest of the car to remove any over spray that may have been on the paint. So what are the chances of being able to get that stain out with any of these products.
Oh and i also have a bit of wax on the top near the windshield area (must have slipped while i was waxing). Will the cleaners be able to get that out?
thanks.

First step, go to meguiarsonline.com, create an account, and ask in the detailing 101 forum. If it is dried on wax, it should easily wipe off. If its overspray, use meguiars m105, followed my m205 to remove haze, then wax. Problem solved. Even if it isn't overspray m105 will take whatever it is out. It is a very aggressive product. Do you have a DA polisher?

One of the advantages of the Z’s vinyl top over a more classy woven fabric top is that dirt, stains and other schmutz can be scrubbed off more easily. Wolfstein’s Rag Top cleaner is an excellent cleaner and can be used with some gusto without harming the top. (303 top cleaner is fine as well, and I’ve also used home cleaners that don’t contain bleach or detergents) Because the Z’s vinyl top is embossed with a textured surface, dried wax, over-spray and other stains can get quite a foothold. You must use a semi stiff bristle brush to get at it.
U V exposure will deteriorate all tops. The popular top protectors and treatments all contain U V blockers and help to repel stains. When water no longer beads up on the top it’s time to reapply the protectant.
