Default instructions on how to remove trunk paneling?

i was attempting to remove the panels in my trunk so that i could access the trunk switch. my plan is to install a trunk release button by tapping into the switch above the license plate. i removed the 2 push pins and weathersealer. i tried pulling and it didnt come off. it almost did, but something was still blocking it. anyways, i chickened out and re-installed everything.

does anybody have the cd-rom section where they discuss the removal of the roadster's panels? i would really appreciate it. or if anyone could explain it to me?

i am really nervous about messing around too much with a $38,000 car and screwing something up.

thanks in advance.

umm...pry..and pull...no joke...it is attached by plastice "bolts" that are sons of bitches to get loose....you need to get good leverage under the piece and just keep pulling ..and once you get one part loose it will be easier to get the whole thing off

dont get scared from the sound it makes either

good luck

The plastic "bolts" are very simple to get out.

Take a ball point pen, or small screw driver to push down the center of the pin (you will hear a pop sound). That makes the plastic bolt loose and simply pull out.

To put the plastic pin back in later, that center piece of the pin you pushed in earlier, pull it up through so that it sticks above the plastic head.

Push the pin back in its hole, and push down on the center piece and you will hear it pop to lock it back in place..

If you do a search through some of the "Bose Amp Posts" after they announced the "New" amp you will find a link which shows how to get to the amp, which will also show how to remove panels.

Lemme know if you need help, just did my whole hatch area with Dynamat

Not too hard, had some interior removal tools. Did not break one fastener...just take your time if you do decide to go at it.

vlad,
i have the roadster, so i dont have a button on the strut bar. unless, there is a button in the roadster that i am unaware of? anyways, i thought it would be cool to have a button to pop the trunk from the interior like regular cars do.

wakaZ,

thanks for the offer. i am putting this off for a bit. i want to find an oem looking button. right now i got one from radio shack.

http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...%5Fid=275-1566

it would seem a bit out of place in the z i think. i dont want it to be obvious.

i got a set of clear bumper reflectors for christmas that i would appreciate help installing though.

I have no idea what Nissan was thinking with this one. If the car is unlocked anyone can open the trunk from the outside and remove it's contents. I disabled that function which means that the key fob is the only resonable method for opening the trunk, providing some security. Too bad Nissan disables this function when the ignistion key is inserted.
