Default Top opening slow. rear defroster window section only

So I got the normal tear on the top located near the rear.. and now when I try to put my top down the first stage when the rear defroster window section goes up. It seems like my top motor is getting weak. I fear it got wet due to the tear..

Anyways only the stage where the rear window defrost section goes up and comes down the motor struggles.. im scared to put the top/down anymore because I dont want it to get stuck lol

any thoughts on maintenance? anyone else have this issue

I would do some kind of vynal repair goop if you can't replace it.

I read on one of the forums about replacing some kind of rubber bands that the top uses. I'm not sure if that's your issue but worth googling. It sounds more like a burned out motor or something is jammed and bocking it from closing correctly.

You may also want to try adding some lube to the track located at the rear of the top. It is under the window.

Default I have the same problem. Watch my video

mestisoZ - I think you're the only person I heard that has the same issue as me. Did you get it resolved? Here is a video of my top trying to open.

Video looks to me like the problem I had with the 5th bow motor. Search "5th bow" and you'll find lots of info on here about that. Mine got worse fast until it wouldn't respond to the button at all. $1500 dealer repair; about $500 with extended warranty.

Question To Blooster

Thanks for the reply, Blooster. I read a lot about the 5th bow, but all the symptoms seemed different than what I have. Is this what your car did when you had that problem?

Unfortunately, I have no warranty, since it's an 04

The top would open maybe 80% of the way and then pause. At first it would resume opening by itself but it got worse within a few weeks and I'd have to hit the button multiple times. Never a problem closing. When the button stopped working completely, the car went in the shop
