Default convertible top frame

So i found this junk yard that has a convertible top for sale , the top is in pretty good condition at a fairy cheap price. My only concern is that it is a top with a complete frame. Does this make the replacement job more difficult? easier? anyone ever swap a whole top including frame? Is it just a matter of bolt off, bolt on? or is it just as long of a job as re-skinning the frame with a new top? Let me know what you guys think.. thanks!

I believe there's a motor inside/attached to the frame that assists with the whole folding assembly... So you probably have to check if that motor is working to just bolt it on (motor will be expensive to replace btw.) If the motor isn't working, it's cheaper/easier to just replace the fabric on your existing top/frame.

But I'm not 100% sure about the motor thing... But either way you're going to have to take the frame off of the car and re-assemble it back... So unless you're getting an amazing deal, just replace the fabric and be done with it.

P.S. FYI, OEM top is more prone to ripping than aftermarket top...

If the top is off a wrecked car then the frame may not be strait. If the car had impact then there is a good change the frame may not line up with your car.

What is cheap? I bought my top for $540 vinyl. I agree if the car was in an accident it might not fit perfectly. I think I have a PDF on how to replace the top with frame and all. If I find it I'll post it.
