Smile 7000 Mile Review

VIN below 1000 and passing 7000 miles. Tranny is perfect--no grind, shifts like butter. Window streak came and went on its own. TSB on tire noise done, but expect the roar to return. No bumper chips at all with clear bra. Car tracks straight and true and has from day one. Latest Bose amp replaced.

'03 Touring, MT, everthing but NAV.

I am new at posting on webpages, but at the suggestion of a friend, I am posting with the hope that someone can help me, because I don't think my dealership will.

You mentioned "TSB on tire noise done, but expect the roar to return". It's funny that you mention "roar". My new Z only has 8200 miles on it. Approximately 2000 miles ago (2 months ago), I developed a roar coming from under the front of the car. It appears around 20 mph, both accelerating and decelerating. I just brought it in to the dealer for it's 7500 mile check up ( a little late).

The technician indicated that my tires were over inflated. I have come to find out that the computerized tire gauges are not that accurate. They seem to be off about 4 to 5 pounds. In addition, they indicated the car was out of "spec alignment". To make a long story short, they let air out of the tires, realigned it and rotated the tires. It did not help the roar at all.

A friend indicated that perhaps the wheel bearings need to be adjusted. I mentioned that to the service writer when I brought the car in and of course, he ignored that comment - I assume because I am a chick.

Bob, any insight that you can offer about this "roar" would be appreciated. What does TBS mean?

Thank you so much,
ZHappy from Philly
