Default what caused this tear in my top?

My car is an 07, so top is not that old.
Anyway, I put the top down yesterday and this is the result.
Could it have been something in the roof mechanism that caused the tear????

Judging by the shearing of the fabric, I wouldn't rule out pterodactyl talon.
