Question Convertible top repair/patching in Los Angeles

Hello,

I have some pretty nasty holes in my top. One is about 3 inches long the other is 1.5 inches.

Yesterday was the first time it rained since i've owned the car. Really need to get the top repaired. Took it to the Nissan dealer and they wouldn't fix it. Warranty won't cover it.

Do you know a place in Los Angeles that can help me out?

You should consider a new top. I doubt any repair would look good so replacement is pretty much your only option.

Not really concerned with looking good at this point. Trying to look good got me to buy a roadster. Been kind of a pain ever since. I just would like to keep the water out.

AJ's upholstery in northridge. I bought a cloth top for the s2000 off craigslist and he replaced it for $250!
The s2000 takes 3-4 hours if you're skilled. Other shops wanted at least $800.

I'm sure he can patch those no problem.

Why wouldn't the warranty cover it? I have a pair of tears in my top that I was going to take it in for, but they are in a different location. They run front to back and are about 2 inches long (one on each side) at the seam on top towards the back. When you open/close the top, you can see the two metal bars that slide up into this area -- and it appears as it simply tore just due to the stresses (I'll see if I can get some pictures).

I'm not sure any warranty would cover the top after this many years. I don't k now the year of the original poster's car, but a 2009 Roadster is now over 4 years old. Most bumper to bumper warranties only cover for the first 3 years.

Ah, good point. I was assuming that there was an extended warranty.

My thinking would be that something like this should be covered by either factory or extended warranties. The top should not fail this way any more than an alternator or a transmission should.

I have a 2005 with the same tears on both the left and right side. No warranty is going to replace it and repairing it is a waste of money. Buy a new top.

My question is, go with OEM top, or pay the extra hundred or so and get the Haartz Stayfast Cloth? opinion?
