Why are convertible Zs cheaper than hardtops?
I am actively seeking a low mileage 350Z.
I am finding that convertibles are noticeably cheaper.
WHY?
Thanks in advance!

I keed! I keed!
Honestly don't have a clue. Would surmise that for a bulk of buyers, a ragtop just isn't "practical" due to climates but given where you are, that shouldn't hold true. Out here in NeverRains, CA, prices seem about compatible, like for like.

They were more expensive for a while, guess it's time to start looking for one

Objectively, I'd guess that the additional reinforcement of the chassis (front subframe, mid-chassis, and critically, the side sills/door structure) seem to do their jobs well. Whether or not it can handle the torque uptick from an LS (or even a full-up suspension) is debatable. Good news there is that I surmise it wouldn't take a lot to gusset up the existing support trusses - particularly the front subframe A-frame to handle it.
But take this all as pure conjecture. DeusExMaxima built up his roadster to Nismo specs so maybe he can elaborate.

Not sure what you're getting all defensive over, I was never referring to its performance. It simply looks like a boat and I'm sure many would agree with me. Purely subjective, which was why I said "probably". But hey, I could try to "edumacate" myself on your likes and dislikes. So tell me, do you take all opinions up the a** or is it just ones on the internet?

Really not sure why, but when I was looking for a Z a few months ago, I saw that the convertibles were cheaper too. My fiance has a convertible one, but has to replace the top soon cuz it's tearing where it folds when raised up and down. His is nice but the blind spots are tougher to see in my opinion. Mine is a hard top and I prefer it cuz it's easier to see the blind spots through the back window than with the soft top and the back window is way smaller.

06 Mag Black. Ran the Tail of the Dragon with hardtops in 5th slot, NO problems keeping up.

In WA it's the same price, it usually differs between AT and 6MT. literally almost a 3.5-5k price difference between clean titles with the same miles. I couldve gotten an 07 AT with 60k miles for 12 and I got my 6MT for 15.
