My Turn to Find Holes in My Top ***HELP
It's finally my turn to find pinholes in my roadster top just above and behind the headrests on both sides.
My build date is 7/03 and the top is the "old style." I live in the Dublin/Pleasanton area in Cali. and need to tap your brains for the "RIGHT" dealership to get the top replaced.
I'm really **** like most other Z owners and would like to sleep at the dealership if possible (just kidding). But seriously, I don't want some monkey working on the car and have it come back with dings, scratches, and 50 miles on it. I've heard too many horror stories.
Can someone out there help me find a competent dealership to get my top replaced. Possibly a dealership that has done several of these already. I don't mind driving out of my way (within reason) to get to the right dealership.
Also does anyone know if Nissan will reimburse for tinting that has already been applied to the rear window and will need to be re-tinted after the new top is installed?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I too have a 7/03 build date Roadster. After reading many posts here about the pinholes I found them. I reported them to my dealer Turner Nissan. The service manager agreed they should not be there. It took him about 2 months but they replaced the top. They did not mess anything else up. Then about 4 months later he called and said that Nissan finally figured out what was wrong and they wanted to install a couple shims. If they did not the new top would get the same holes.
I had good results from Turner Nissan on Fulton Avenue in Sacramento, CA.

Sean, here's a link with pics of the holes.

Dezinger, in the same thread it was determined that the ZR's built after 8/03 had the double stitched top in order to avoid the hole problem. Those built before then were single stitched. As for the shims, not sure when it was worked out, but suppossedly when you looked at the car from the rear, you could see the tonneau cover sitting at an angle. If it's straight, you don't need to worry about it.
