Default Nismo CAI

Sorry guys,

can't find this on the search....but how easy is it to install a Nismo CAI on an 2004 Roadster ? Someone told me you have to remove the front bumper to do it the right way. Is this true ?

I'm getting a clear bra installed and am curious if I should get this mod done first.

Much appreciate your help,
Steve

I was told by Performane Nissan that the Nismo CAI will not fit in the ZR. The Injen however, fit like a glove.

I have the Nismo CAI installed on my ZR and it fits just fine. I had it done professionally though so can't answer any install questions.

I installed a NISMO one on my ZR without taking off the bumper, though taking the bumper off would have made it alot easier to see what I was doing. I just unbolted the splash guards underneath the bumper and got the air filter in through there. If I was going to do it again, I would take the bumper cover off. It would just make things alot easier. I ended up taking the bumper off two weeks later when I got some smoked reflectors and re-adjusted the air filter so it fit better.

I would say that the install was fairly easy. You have to remove the strut tower brace and move some wire looms, but other than that the rest is simple assembly. I did have one problem that was not described in the instructions, there was a stud coming out of the frame rail that was in the way of the downtube. I think it held on some kind of a counter weight or something like that. Anyway, it scratched up the tube, but it isn't in a place where you can see it. I probably need to get some sort of a plastic cap to go over that stud to prevent futher scratching.

I am very happy with the sound. Really good sound when you stomp the gas. Throttle response seems somewhat quicker too. I think that NISMO claims +6hp at the wheels, but I have no way of measuring that. Overall, I am happy with it.
