yeah jpm i would go with the snow tires, you get them you'll be golden. i had a 95 skyline slap some snow tires on and the 240 inchs we get here a year in japan are nothing. you get the snow tires you'll be alright
i dont have snow tires. it only snowed 2 inches here. it wasnt to bad but if there was a little pyle no traction. not to bad though. take the tcs off though, forget about it. fun though.

JMO but i much rather get a beater for the winter.. reason is that i dont trust the people around me, im not worried about the z touching the snow and all that.. but other people around is what i dont like.
i much rather some run into me in a beater than someone run into me in the z. some people just cant drive on snow

Get a beater, the winter is brutal on the Z. The car is really low so your going to be running over big ice chunks and stuff getting into driveways or parking lots. Your interior gets salt in it and mud/dirt from your shoes. Not to mention the paint will get all messed up from salt/rock chips. I dunno i guess snow tires are good but if u can afford it, i would get a beater.
1999 Ford Escort. The Z is in the garage with a cover and a bottle of "Sta-Bil" in the tank. ETA for driving: MAR/06, they don't call it "March Madness" for nothing.

All-season tires (Kumho Ecsta ASX), driven in the rain and now snow.
Other than the fact that we get snow on top of ice or slush, which pretty much makes driving anything -- even a 4x4 -- an exercise in driving skills, the Z does very well.
