370Z PICS (RED)
There's a new pic floating around taken of the back with the hatch open. The strut bar is now right behind the seats and totally exposed. There are two huge humps in the cargo area right over each of the rear wheels. They are so big, it makes you wonder if the bar is even necessary. The back looks like a jacuzzi with the bar as a handle to get in and out of the water.
I think this is where most of the weight loss was accomplished. The entire rear wall behind the seats in the 350 is now gone...along with the storage space and and surfaces for mounting speakers. All you see is that huge chrome strut bar.
Also, apparently Nissan now believes we all have huge heads judging by the size of the headrests. This car is becoming even more of a joke as each day passes. I really hope it backfires enough that they go back to the drawing board.

I think they omitted the strut-bar altogether. That bar you now see is just so that the contents in your hatch don't come over the bar and hit you under hard braking or somehting.
I think the new hatch design allows for more rigidity in the rear that the old design did not - thus the strut bar on the old ones.
I agree about the headrests. Those monstrosities started in 07. I HATE the "active" headrests in my 07 (their term, not mine). They are made to bring the headrest forward in the even of a rear collision. They word "active" which is what they use to describe them is completey inaccurate. They are PASSIVE! They have long bars on them so that when your body is pressed back into the seat, the bars act as a lever on a pivot and moves the headreset forward. Just because the bars "act" does not make them active!
The down sides are:
- Huge headrests
- If you rest your head on the headrest, the pivot movement works i the other direction and the bars jab you in the back
- they allow the headrest leather to rub on the seat leather on either side, which causes a really annoying squeak any time you move or go over a bump or turn or anything - you just have an annoying squeak in your ear.
- to get rid of the squeak, I had to raise the headrest - which looks stupid and probably renders them useless (I am short).
And they have the gall to call then "Active" - friggen liars/losers!
I am gonna go back to BMW if Nissan doesn't pull their heads out of their grASSES.

Yes, the "strut bar" is no longer and seems to be replaced by another bar. I am sure it is structural. It looks like it connects the "B" pillars.
Gimme a break...all this b!tching and whining about headlights, head rests, door handles, strut brace...blah, blah blah. With a drop and some nice wheels, all the little things, good or bad, won't change the fact that this car is stunning. It's taken a while to grow on me as well, but the latest photos reveal an inspired design.

I have to agree with ZZ (for a change) on this one. Once owners get ahold of this car and start moding it, it will be one of the hottest rides on the street.
I personally can not see how people can say this car is "ugly". I mean that is a bit extreme. I mean, really, how many cars are truly "ugly" out there? It looks HOT to me. And like you guys said, with some mods, watch out!

I'm sold to this car... what I don't really understand is WHY those SOB don't just grab those seats http://www.recaro.com/index.php?id=3916®ion=3&L=2 and instead of "reinventing the wheel" put something nice, comfy and also suited to a sport car.
