2009 Nissan 370Z Yokohama ADVAN Sport Tire Review article
Hey guys,
Out of the three tire reviews we've posted, these Yokohama's are the most respected. Their unique tread design and high speed durability make them a good match for the agile, fast 370Z.
You guys interested in getting them? Do you have them already? What are your opinions? How do you view Yokohama as it applies to your Z? Is it worth the cost?
If you missed the quick read, you can find it here: https://my350z.com/nissan-370z/2009-...-stability.php

I loved Yokohama's ADVAN AD07's, but I tried their new AD08's (which replaced the AD07), and had a terrible experience. The two front tires blistered or chunked along the edge, after only 6 track sessions.

This never happened with the AD07's. So I sent them back to Yokohama and they said they would not replace them under warranty because they were used on a track. Seems lame considering their own AD08 commercial has some dude drifting (on a track). Here's the video:

On top of this, after they refused to replace the tires, the guy at my local tire shop (who did a great job dealing with Yokohama for me) got them to promise to at least give me a written explanation of what the possible causes may be, so I could give the tires another shot. (e.g. air pressure, camber, etc). They never gave me a written explanation, they just totally flaked on this. I'm sorry but that is totally lame from a company like Yokohama. Keep in mind, this is Yokohama USA, not Yokohama Japan.
I had planned to write a whole thread about it anyway, but I just saw this thread which gave me an opportunity to do so here.
I did buy two new AD08's for my front tires, which I will try out on the track again later this summer. I know, I'm stupid for giving them more money, but I really loved the AD07's, and I just want to give these one more shot before writing them off as not track-worthy.
I recommend staying away from Yokohama for spirited or track driving, stick to Bridgestone, or Michelin, Dunlop or even Kumho. Bridgestone's RE-01 tires were great, and I'll be trying their RE-11's after these yokohama's fall apart again.
