Default The Z has Cancer, Help!! (factory rust protection)

Well I went to change the oil on the Z tonight.

I HATE THE GOD DAMN @#%KING MIDWEST GOD DAMN @#%KING SNOW

So I drop the ground shield and what is lurking under my newly washed car?

WTF did the previous owner do, bathe the car in the black sea twice a year? A car this new should not be @#%king corroded like this.

Let me guess, unless it's rotted completely through, it's not covered.

That engine shot makes me want to cry.

BTW, by the looks of your diff, the diff bushing has torn. Thats what I would assume that black drippage stain on the rear cover is from.

You do not mention important facts such as what year and mileage. Looks like a flood damage vehicle from hurricane Katrina that was sitting in the water for a month.

That's why I don't drive the Z in snow...

The roads have started to clear and I've been working on it, so I thought "Hey, I'll run it to the car wash really quick, then bring it back and wax it."

...

I got stuck 3 feet outside my garage...

I feel sorry man. I freaked out when I had a small spot on my subframe. Keep an eye on that and fix it whenever you see it start.

My G is worse under the car.. I have my plastic undertray ziptied.. There's rust everywhere and my oilpan is a little scuffed because i'm slammed and i have a oil pan spacer... My engine bay on the other hand looks alot better because I clean it as often as I clean the paint.. Crappy New England weather. O well..

I live in Maine, the winters here are horrible... Thats why my Z is stored from Nov-April.... No rust whatsover here....

My question though is do you powerwash underneath? My wifes sentra we drove all year but I sprayed underneath once a week and it didnt look anything like that!! Time to trade it in!! LOL

It looks bad, but most of it is on the surface and won't have any tangible impact for at least another 8 - 10 years. 90% of cars that drive in the winter (with salted roads) look like that.

It is horrible to look at though...
