how do i do the throttle body relearn procedure???
hey i need help can anyone let me know how to the the throttle relearn procedure. i got a new throttle body and my car still wont turn on so before i take it to the dealer i want to see it the relearn procedure might help it turn on.

Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning
DESCRIPTION
Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning is an operation to learn the fully released position of the accelerator pedal by monitoring the accelerator pedal position sensor output signal. It must be performed each time harness connector of accelerator pedal position sensor or ECM is disconnected.
OPERATION PROCEDURE
1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch ON and wait at least 2 seconds.
3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
4. Turn ignition switch ON and wait at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning
DESCRIPTION
Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning is an operation to learn the fully closed position of the throttle valve by monitoring the throttle position sensor output signal. It must be performed each time harness connector of electric throttle control actuator or ECM is disconnected.
OPERATION PROCEDURE
1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch ON.
3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
Make sure that throttle valve moves during above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound.
Idle Air Volume Learning
DESCRIPTION
Idle Air Volume Learning is an operation to learn the idle air volume that keeps each engine within the specific range. It must be performed under any of the following conditions:
Each time electric throttle control actuator or ECM is replaced.
Idle speed or ignition timing is out of specification.
PREPARATION
Before performing Idle Air Volume Learning, make sure that all of the following conditions are satisfied.
Learning will be cancelled if any of the following conditions are missed for even a moment.
Battery voltage: More than 12.9V (At idle)
Engine coolant temperature: 70 - 100°C (158 - 212°F)
Park/neutral position (PNP) switch: ON
Electric load switch: OFF
(Air conditioner, headlamp, rear window defogger)
On vehicles equipped with daytime light systems, if the parking brake is applied before the engine is started, the headlamp will not be illuminated.
Steering wheel: Neutral (Straight-ahead position)
Vehicle speed: Stopped
Transmission: Warmed-up
For A/T models with CONSULT-II, drive vehicle until “ATF TEMP SE 1” in “DATA MONITOR” mode of “A/T” system indicates less than 0.9V.
For A/T models without CONSULT-II and M/T models, drive vehicle for 10 minutes.
OPERATION PROCEDURE
With CONSULT-II
1. Perform EC-42, "Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning" .
2. Perform EC-42, "Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning" .
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Check that all items listed under the topic PREPARATION (previously mentioned) are in good order.
5. Select “IDLE AIR VOL LEARN” in “WORK SUPPORT” mode.
6. Touch “START” and wait 20 seconds.
7. Make sure that “CMPLT” is displayed on CONSULT-II screen. If
“CMPLT” is not displayed, Idle Air Volume Learning will not be
carried out successfully. In this case, find the cause of the incident
by referring to the DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE below.
8. Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure that idle
speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.
Without CONSULT-II
NOTE:
It is better to count the time accurately with a clock.
It is impossible to switch the diagnostic mode when an accelerator pedal position sensor circuit has a malfunction.

12. Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure that idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.

Did it work? I have my '03 idling at 1000rpm now, the idiot workshop quoted me $1800 for an E-manage. I'm thinking of cleaning my throttle body a bit, a hard reset then perform this relearn thing.

my car is 2003 .. got high idle and SES light came on after changing the spark lugs. I did the pedal dance followed above instruction many times, but didn't get the light to blink, so I google and found the easiest way to do this: " unplug the negative battery wire for 1 hour then put it back. if the SES light does not come up then you are good, otherwise you have done something wrong" It worked out for me ..

my 03 350z revs as if i'm flooring it when i barely suppress the pedal, i tried all the reset procedures, when it comes to restarting the car on step 10 the car starts then dies, it'll restart but with no change to the revving problem i'm having, any ideas?

I'm looking to clean my Throttle body but it seems there is no definitive procedure. I'm trying to Bruce-Lee the throttle body cleaning technique by learning what others have done (wrongs and right) and write up the efficient safest method.
I havent done it yet and I'm still researching.
Anyways Randy,
Try this:
Disconnect accelerator pedal position sensor. Wait 30 seconds and then reconnect.
Disconnect electric throttle control actuator. Wait 30 seconds and then reconnect.
Then do the relearn Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning. Teaches the pedal.
Then do the relearn Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning. Teaches the TB.
This will teach the positioning as if a new part has been installed. Make sense?
Now to do the air volume learning.
Many forget that the computer will not learn unless it meets parameters below.
Warm your car up to operating temp (10minutes). Close all windows and roof (convertible). Turn off all electronics. Lave in Neutral and parking brake up with the wheels dead straight
Then do below (count 1 elephant, 2 elephant etc... and use your fingers. It's retarted but it works when you cant find a clock or see in the dark):
5. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
6. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ON and wait 3 seconds.
7. Repeat the following procedure quickly five times within 5 seconds.
a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal.
b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the MIL stops blinking and turned ON.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the MIL turned ON.
10. Start engine and let it idle.
11. Wait 20 seconds.
12. says to rev but I'm iffy on that. I say let it idle. If not repeat the steps 5 on wards this time rev a few times.
Just remember, if the Revs are too high or all over the place, the computer may not want to learn (ie save the settings).
I wonder if the technique above will fix the Throttle body issue everyone is having when they disconnect the TB for cleaning.

Sup guys.. I'm having that same problem right now.. my idle is at 1700rpm.. n I have tried the idle relearn countless times without success.. i took the car to Nissan because I couldn't figure it out n my clutch started feeling funny... n they said my clutch is slipping so I will need a new one..n that I will most likely need a new ecm to fix the idle. N they quoted me at $3500..which is ridiculous... they said since engine is idle high n I drove it like that it made the clutch go out.... did anyone find a solution.??

Well, no. I had found what I was looking for but did not realize it, as it was within the ECU reset procedure but not detailed. If you didn't know, you would never know, type thing.
I'll spell it out for anyone else at the same spot:
Step #3 in the ECU reset procedure, where the CEL (SEL) blinks, is where the code is thrown. Long blinks are the first number, and short blinks are all the rest. So if you have 10 long, 4 short, 4 short, 2 short, you have 0442 being thrown. It repeats forever.
I knew this years ago, but had forgot. Hope this helps. I'm not here to waste anyone's time.
