vk: better engine management, shorter length, lighter block
rb: massive iron block that can handle lots of boost (but weighs a billion pounds)

in the end, you have to realize that truthfully, there is no replacement for displacement.
agreed, but the onlyy replacement for displacement is a big **** turbo

a big turbo on a small motor doesnt compare to a big turbo on a big motor.

I would go with a LS motor if I was doing a swap over either of those motors.

Get the VK. Even the LS motor would be better. There's way too many turboed VQ's, and quite a bit of RB's in the Z already, and going smaller in displacement seems kind of odd.

if youre sticking with 500-600 you can make that NA on the VK, or with a really low boost level, which would mean you get a REALLY useable powerband

well even with the rb26 is smaller displacement it still pushes almost more than the vq
3.5 vq 287hp
-2.6 rb 280 hp
0.9 litter larger than rb and 7 hp more than rb but not bad for smaller displacement

well umm... if you have plenty of money to do the swap, meaning funds arent really an issue? i would say go with the RB motor swap nice solid build and tune, and get the AWD installed in your car. i believe function tuned in VA can do this for you. How sexy would that be..... AWD rb 350z ^^ now thats something different. just motor is for pansies lol j/p

only reason i say this is because if your planning on a 500+ hp build... lol RWD just spins in first and second... awd you would have much more useable power

that was a no research comment, just based on the general engine layout and what the engine does in its original environment

VK56DE
The VK56DE is a 5.6 L (5552 cc) version built in Decherd, TN. Bore is 98 mm (3.9 in) and stroke is 92 mm (3.6 in). Compression ratio 9.8:1.
Output is 305 hp (227 kW) at 4900 rpm with 375 to 390 ft·lbf (509-522 Nm) of torque at 3600 rpm. It has aluminum-alloy block and heads and low-friction molybdenum-coated pistons. The valvetrain is a dual overhead cam (DOHC). It has 4 valves per cylinder with microfinished camshafts and cast-iron cylinder liners for increased durability.

With cast iron cylinder liners it can take some more power with stock internals....raise the CR from 9.8 to 10.5 and a good tune for HP instead of torque and u can get ur 450 hp easy

and that engine runs regular....tuned for 91 or 93octane u can get 500 at the crank easy...

lol your a moron... ask anyone with over 500 HP. take it in first or second, GUN it and your going to spin. yes you can feather it and what not to make it better but your still not putting down full power on the street. with awd im just saying it would be easier. plz dont start pulling out your stupid little Maxima's can run this and that from your other thread... im talking street tire. im not saying AWD is perfect, but just saying will help wit traction at those power levels.
