Nissan was not allowed to have a hard top roadster because we gave it to Infiniti so that we could have the GT-R.

No offense man but you don't know what you're talking about. Nissan got the GT-R because it's always been a Nissan, world wide and remains a Nissan. It's never worn the Infiniti badging, so why start now?

They didn't go hardtop on the 370Z roadster because of weight issues. Common sense.

This was told to me by the Nissan USA regonal Mgr. They did not think that anyone would buy a 80 grand Nissan. They thought that the Infiniti dealers were better set up to handle the high brow clients. The GT-R was planned to be an Infiniti in the US only. They do not have Infiniti in Japan.
The weight issue is common sense but they have always thought about the hard top roadster. I get alot of people on the lot complaining that they would buy it if it had a retractable hard top. They are not true Z customers though.
I do know what I am talking about.

No, I was saying that Nissan was not allowed to use a retractable hard top on the Z because that was given to the G37. Infiniti gave Nissan the GT-R and they kept the option to make a four door GT-R badged as an Infiniti model. The four door is on hold or has been canceled.

G37C ^^^ Makes sense since 3-series bmw's come with hardtops, they could take some sales there.

Saw this posted on Jalopnik:
http://jalopnik.com/5202619/2010-nis...yline=true&s=x

The 2010 Nissan 370Z Roadster will go on sale later this summer, giving 370Z buyers with a lust for open-air driving at least a few weeks to enjoy the new drop-top Z.

Compared to the previous generation, which always looked awkward with its top down, the newly restyled rump lends itself well to the soft cloth top. The new convertible covering works with a one-touch control and auto-latching. Otherwise, the setup is quite similar to the coupe with a "Touring" model and a "Sport" model — the latter adding a viscous LSD, NISMO Sport brakes, and 19-inch wheels.

Nissan has yet to announce a price for the new convertible but expect it to set you back a few thousand over the price of a similarly-optioned coupe.
Looks official to me!

^^^ I like it...looks a lot better than the current roadsters.

Rear kind of reminds me of the Lexus SC's though.

those roll bars needs to be round and shorter. Those bars fit the car like a sore thumb.

I'm not a roadster/convertible fan, anyway. It's either Coupes or Family Sedans.
