Question 2005 350z transmission PROBLEM HEEELP!!!

Alright i got a 05 350z, its a pup its only got 20K miles on it, and i only had the car for couple months. The problem I had with the car is that when i shift from 2nd gear to 3rd the whole back end of the car shakes really bad, and this only seems to happen when i keep it at 3K - 4K rpms. by the way the car is automatic and it seems to do it more in tiptronic mode. I bought it at a private dealer and their mechanic looked at it and they said the tranny was slippin and it needed to be replaced probably, and i took it to nissan and they said the tranny had no problems. Im still waiting on hearing from nissan but if anyone knows whats up with car IM IN NEED OF HEEEELP!!

I'm guessing you checked the fluid. The 5AT trannys don't have a lot of problems. Check the color and level of the fluid.

Tranny mount? Are the bolts all tight on your driveshaft?

Is it doing it when you are just driving in 3rd at a constant speed, or only when you change gears?

Mine's not as bad as your's - there's a 'thump' from 2-3. I remember there being a thread about this and it was mentioned that this was normal (at least in my case).

Powertrain warr. is still good for another 9k miles so I should get it checked out soon.

Let me try to find that thread, but there was some type of explanation for it. Just to make it clear - my thump is relatively minor compared to what you had described.

When Nissan took a look at it, were they able to reproduce it?

I don't think it's normal and it almost takes the fun out of using the tiptronic mode.

When I took it in they said they ran every test, and their guy took it for a ride n he couldn't hear the sound. My car does it in both tiptronic n auto mode it seems to have a harsher sound in tiptronic though

Seems like they couldn't reproduce it. Could u take it to another dealership or riding along to pinpoint the problem?

I still haven' had enough time to track that thread down -- it might take awhile since it's fairly old.

I got lucky this morning and found it using 'auto clunk' search; sorting by date asc.

I didn't get a chance to read through it yet since I'm at work.
