Why? This is very inconvenient and possibly inconsiderate to regular members who have their rides on sites such as cardomain.com or supermotors.org that show plenty of pics and (can) detail mods or what have you without wasting my350z.com's bandwidth.
As an example of why I have to raise this question, I moderate at a forum for another type of vehicle and that site is more than likely run on less money per month/year and receives less money from vendors (due mainly to market pull since most parts are now obsolete) and yet the signature rules are more lenient for the more than 25,000 registered members.
The rules are: 5 lines of text at 800 x 800 resolution; 2 smilies maximum; links in signatures limited to anything provided the url links do not compete with site vendors (protects the paying vendors investment), are not offensive and rated pg-13 (no ****, obviously), and do not violate the 'For Sale' rules/regulations.
Not trying to cause any static here. But I am curious as to why regular members cannot have links to their cardomain (as an example) sites in their signatures. Is it simply a perk for 'donating' members to be able to have more than 1 line of text and use url links? Or were there previous problems with members abusing that privelege (ie, linking to flamatory threads on this or other forums)?
Links are disabled but if posting a cardomain.com url that is fine. Do not take this as a license to post any url in your sig because we will delete urls for non approved vendors etc. Cardomain.com is fine and is a good way for member to share their pics and mods with other users.
