Just installed lcd and dvd player
i just got done installing a lcd and a dvd player.
it took me about good 3 hours...could've have done it much quicker if i had the right tools...had to go back and forth to grab other things. and the wiring was pain in the back (small space to work with). any hows...i had no idea on how to wire the dvd player...some said to use the cigarrette outlet?? did know how.
so i just wired it from the stock hu along with the screen. it seems to be working ok...but the picture was freezing. is it becuz of lack of power???
please help me out guys...i'll put up some pictures tomorrow when it's bright out.

I'm about to do a similar install, can you give me some tips on how to install the LCD screen? Which screen do you have? The screen I'm looking at is a Xenarc but won't be doing the install until after Christmas, I'm getting it as a gift. Which is good because it enable me to research this topic further. Anywho, any info you can pass on in regards to the install would be great.
BTW I'm looking at installing a screen, PS2 and XM Commander.

the screen i bought is Addvision 7676. it fits perfectly with no mods. i've heard xenarc's are very nice in quality. i would've gotten it too if i had little more money. however, installing the screen is very easy...although it took me awhile trying to figure out some things. make sure you know where the wires hook up. i used the big yellow wire w/pink stripes as power for lcd and dvd player. and a light green wire for another wire required on dvd player. some or most people used their cigarette outlet...i didn't know how to do it...and no one didn't tell me or was explained, so i just used the wires on the stock hu.
if you have more questions...let me know...i'll definitely help you
Very cool thank you very much.
At this point I'm trying to get ANY info that I can get pertaining to the install. I'm getting the screen and PS2 as Christmas gifts so I won't be doing the install until after Christmas.
The Xenarc is a bit pricey but I will want to eventually integrate a PC so that's why I chose that screen.
This is the inverter that I'm looking into.
When I'm ready to install I'll be sure to hit you up. Thanks.

i was thinking about installing a slim PS2 as well. but then i would need to spend another $30+ on a converter. or you can hot wire it...which i didn't want to do. instead i got a really nice deal on Blaupunkt's ME2 dvd player.

This is how I wired it. I took out the hidden compartment tray in the glove box behind the seat. I reached in the panel and unplugged the cigarette lighter wire and tapped into it. You can split the positive wire into 3 switches, one for the inverter, one for the screen and one for the modulator. Ground the devices out to the body, and hide the switches wherever you want. My power inverter is hidden under the hidden panel, I drilled a hole through it to route the wires and ran the wires behind the carpeted panel, all you can see is the ps2 with no wires.

Heres a couple of pics, I took them in the dark so they are not that great, I will post alot more tomorrow morning.
Here is a picture of the hidden cubby, the inverter is mounted underneath it. I ran some controller extension cables just in case I needed to use something other than my wireless controllers. The power cord, a/v cables, controller cables, and an extra a/v input are routed through the hidden cubby and will be completely hidden. I put a 2.5 inch speaker port in the hole I drilled to clean up the install a bit.

Here is a picture of the switches I was talking about. One turns on the screen, one turns on the inverter, one turns on the fm nodulator.

This is what the final product should look like. I used wireless controllers so you don't even see the controller wires. The power and av cables are simply tucked underneath the back of the carpeted panel. If you stick a couple of male velcro pieces to the bottom of the ps2 it will not move at all. I used two small squares and that was all it took. You can also take it out pretty easily by mounting it this way.

I'm loving your install, loooks very clean you did a great job.
I don't know if you mentioned it or not but what inverter did you use and how many watts to power up the PS2? Also the power wire that you used from the cig. what color is that? I was planning on using the yellow wire under thedas but if I can tap power frm the cig it would probably be better. Thanks.
I used this one from crutchfield...... It pulls very little current so you can watch movies for hours without draining the battery. It also has a feature that will sound an alarm when the battery is getting low, and it will shut itself off if the voltage falls below a certain point.

When you take the hidden cubby panel out you can reach around to the cigarette lighter and pull the harness away. It is very simple Red is positive, black is negative. You can use a T-tap to tie into them so you don't have to splice the wires. After you tap in, just plug it back in and you are ready to go. I did it this way because if I ever take it to the dealer for a radio related problem they can't say I messed up the radio by re-wiring it.

Here is a pic of the modulator I used. It connects directly to the antenna and head unit. It shuts off the antenna completely to cut out interference. It also has level matching which you can use to adjust sound levels. You only need this to hook up to a stock radio. To be honest it sounds pretty good. I wired it up by grounding the black wire to the radio case, and wiring the blue and red wires to the switch in my dash. You also have to mess with the power settings on the modulator, I beleive you have to set it to remote power, or maybe the automatic on. There are only 2 options so trial and error would get it right. The instruction manual sheds some light on this as well,

i have addvision lcd and blaupunkt dvd player.
when i play a movie, sometimes the screen freezes...or nearly freezes...like slow motion picture. could this be the power problem? this happens when i start the engine...goes away after 10mins of driving. or could it be my dvd?? or lcd??
any of you with addvision having this problem?
