Default Re: where to mount crossover

It's a bit more work, but I mounted the crossovers for all four of my components in the rear glovebox behind the passenger seat. There are several advantages to this.

In my case, because I am running well over the recommended power to my components, I wanted to be able to replace crossovers if I ever cooked one without removing the door panel. Next, my crossovers are adjustable in both the mid and highs, so I wanted to have access to that option. Lastly, if I decided to go with a full on 3 way system, I can easily rewire the crossovers to run the tweeters only and use the bandpass crossover on my amp to run the midbass. This configuration would put each driver (tweeter, woofer, sub) on their own seperate channel of amplification.

Initially you will have to do a little more work, but the option to upgrade configurations makes it well worth it to me.

The plastic pocket below the false floor board in the glove box makes a perfect mounting location for the crossovers. I have four in there and all the wires run into area below the glove box via holes that I drilled in front of each crossover.

I removed a piece of foam from the inside of the door panel and mounted the crossovers to the metal part of the door where the foam would have been with double sided tape.
