Blown Subwoofer?
All of the sudden, my JL 10w6 starts hissing like its feed back from a radio, or radio interferance, and doesnt provide any bass whatsoever. It is cold outside, but i dont think that should affect anything. Is it blown? I tried messing with what cables i could, but i couldnt reach a couple because of the install. I unplugged the input, and it made the same noise. Any ideas? Maybe a loose cable? I couldnt find any, i shock them to see if the sound changed. If i touch the subs outter ring, the sound changes. Really weird. I hope i dont have to shell out another $300 for a god damn sub. The install is about 6 months old, maybe less. Any input is appreciated. Also, i tried disabling the sub from the HU, and the sound didnt change. The amp is a PG 400/1.
thanks,
bill

I dont know if this will help, but i had the same type of problem after I installed my system. It started out fine then the subs got hissy and then the amp blewup. Smoke came out and stuff, so i knew it was the amp, but this maybe you lead you to look at your amp as the problem.

ruh-row! not good bill. didn't you pay to have the system installed? if so, just take it back to the shop that did the work. if it's their fault and they're a reputable shop, they should guarantee it. if nothing else, they should be able to tell you what's wrong with it. geez, nothing like a little good news around the holidays...
