Default Japanese Nav

Hi there,

I'm considering importing a 350z from Japan to the UK - Is it possible to reprogram the Nav units for the UK market? I ask because I'm keen on the leather (Version T) model and these appear to all come with Sat Nav in Japan.

Any help would be gratefully received!

Unfortunately, I don't think it is not that simple. UK 350Zs come with CD satnav (not DVD) made by Xanavi at present. You cannot buy European DVDs for Japanese Zeds at the moment. People have tried using Primera European DVD nav discs in Japanese spec satnavs without success.

Several people have tried for the past year to upgrade their Japanese imported DVD satnavs in the UK without success.

Another confounding factor is that the manufacturers 'region lock' the DVD navigation units, so even if you had a compatible DVD nav disc, you would find it hard to get it work in an out of area unit.

Your best bet, at present, is probably to replace the Japanese unit with an aftermarket system, such as Alpine, which does fit in the cubby.

You could try looking on the UK board and do a search to see if anyone has cracked it yet.
