Default Got A Valentine One and a Car PC?

It has been a long time coming, but I am here to announce my

V1 Virtual Display
Alpha Release features :
  • Popup display on alert with configurable location and display time
  • Skinnable user interface allows the user to customize the display
  • Aspect ratio correction
  • Two way communication with the V1 by clicking on the notification icon, or on the display.
  • Touch screen friendly
  • Allows multiple applications to access the display data though a DLL

I am still working on adding features, some of which I am pretty excited about and I might also make a client that does not require .Net. It shouldn't take much to support a standard serial interface, but I am not particularly motivated to work on that at the moment.

There is only the default skin right now, which is kinda hard to see during the day, but I am hoping that some of the more artistic among you might be interested in making some skins. It is also kinda klunky, since it is kind of a tutorial skin.

Without the hardware all you can do is play with the settings and view skins, but please take a look and tell me what you think.

Dave, I have been working on this forever. I almost had it working for the mt diablo run (a year an a half ago). Too bad I am not in san jose any more or maybe we could meet up.

As far as integration goes, there are a couple things.
First, it prolly works best as a standalone application. It pops up when an alert comes up, and goes away when the alert passes. I haven't tried it while running mediacar or road runner (I am using frodo player in my car) but they should interact okay.
Second, I put all the communication into a DLL, with a simple interface, so that multiple applications can access it SIMULTANEOUSLY. I have also built dummy applications in VB, c and C# to verify that it works across all of them, so integration should be very easy.

How do you like iguidance? I am still using the delorme software that came with my gps, but it is not very touchscreen friendly, and the Austin maps are really bad.

yeah, delorme's software is pretty sad compare to iguidance. Iguidance is a true nav software instead of mapping software trying to be a nav.

Actually if it does pop up when alerted, I think that's more than enough, I don't think I would need to keep looking at the sensor.
now to build a adapter.

Looks cool! You mention that you created a DLL that interfaces with the hardware. What sort of interface does the DLL have? I'm interested in adding this functionality to my own interface if possible.

The DLL interface is really simple right now (just two functions) i plan to document it more when I have it more complete.
