Those IDs look like a good choice based on reviews and price. But they are deep! 3.125" mounting depth? I have trouble with the DAs and they are only 2.44". The mid-bass drivers they have look nice too.

I have heard focals...there is midbass there but the tweeters are so harsh that one can not make out what midbass there is.

The focals I heard were on a Xenon 200.4 with a horribly tuned PG eq215ix

The guy usually listenes to rap so the rock I got to hear sounded horrible. The highs were tuned up so high my eyes felt like they were going to bleed.

So basically focals are bright and I heard them in a system who's owner didnt know anything about flat frequency response.

I'm leaning more to the PGs. Question Alex, concerning the 9" ers. Would it not have been a better idea to put them in the doors and run 4" and tweeters in the kick panels? Wouldn't that allow the high's to be more directional and on axis?

Thanks for the info on the Focals.

Yes that would have been optimal. I looked, I planned, I dreamed...whatever
but the 9ms would not fit in the doors short of fiberglassing the whole door and even then it would have been difficult to get them to fit.

I traded my imaging(not much mind you) for what I think is lacking in any system I have ever heard: midbass

It does not get any better than the 9 inch midbass speakers IMO.

A 6.5.1 setup using Ti elites would be pretty impressive... I ran that set up with my ADS speakers for a few months. I would not have changed if I had not come accross the 9ms at what I thought was a good price.

Eh, Im ripping my stereo out in a week btw.

Maybe the best advice is a different vehicle. The cramped cabin and close proximity of the speakers really limits us I think. Sometimes I wish I was 6'4" so I could sit further away from the spkrs.

finally ... some one gets it .... just playing kinda. I have realized how much of a waste good audio is in a car like this unless you use it for shows

much much better than the focals although they are not par, i've heard
the 165K2P's, got a lot of midbass but i'm done with the harshnes of the
focal TN47's tweeters when i heard the iridium tweeters.

My friend has Seas Lotus and these sound better than the iridiums.
I will try and change my focals w the seas next.

How about trying out 8" like the DLS Iridium 8.2

http://www.dls.se/images/highres/IR82_2_FM.jpg

The mounting depth is only 2.76"

PG current gear is fine.

The morel made elites are great speakers.

PG and I have a bit of a problem that has risen from a thread or two I made on their forum which resulted in the complete disownment of PG fans.

Any way, their gear is fine. Its just a personal grudge
