The Bose does not have any aux inputs. If your HU has a button labeled RADIO (Not AM/FM) you can use a PAC-AAINIS which plugs into the back of the HU into the Satelite connection and it crates two aux inputs. I wouldn't waste your time with R/F modulators I haven't seen any that are worth using.

It says it plugs into the CD changer port on the back of the radio so I would assume it works off the CD controls somehow (ie specific CD number?)

I have my DVD player FM modulated and it sounds just as good as any FM radio station. Its not CD quality but its not that bad. FM modulation has come a long way the last few years. I wouldn't worry bout it too much.
I have the Soundstream 7" Touchscreen DVD player.
